Phone Mount - what are people using?

What are people doing about phone mounting? I like to mount my phone in my cars and had used ProClip for my Taycan 4S. There doesn’t seem like there’s a good option for the new Macan EV yet however. Is everyone just putting it in the wireless charging cubby?

As corny as it sounds, I’ve just been putting away my phone and enjoying the drive

When I had the phone mount on my Tesla I just ended up texting ppl while on autopilot and in retrospect maybe that’s not so safe lol. Innodrive is definitely less safe so maybe I shouldn’t get a phone mount

CarPlay has given me enough of the functionality I’m looking for with Spotify and my podcasts.

Using a phone mount on a modern Porsche is like putting a fur cover around the steering wheel or a dashboard shaking head dog… just… don’t. 🫣


But also, the integration with CarPlay and Android Auto is great, there’s no need to have an additional screen. In the charging comportment is where my phone lives when I’m behind the wheel.

I use the charging area, and by the way I am forgetting the phone too frequently when I leave the vehicle and I have to return to the vehicle to pick it up.

It has happened a couple of times…

Here are a few options.

Oddly, the Proclipusa website will not get you to this mount via their selector tool, you need to enter the sku # 856136 in to get to it. I found the sku via a google search for the Macan ev mounts. Seems they need to update something on their website. I ordered the Proclip one and both options from A-tach Mounts website (the Proclip and A-tach mounts shipped right away) and intend to use some Magsafe phone holding attachments via a AMPS baseplate with whichever of the 3 below bases I end up going with. I have not opened up the packages yet

As for its use, I like to have the phone easily accessible and use as another display for notifications if needed, fully respect all the "put your phone away and drive" people, but this is my preference and I do not allow it to distract me.

Like @centrovi , I use the charging area and always forget my phone. But, for distance trips, we're shifting to putting 2 phones in the charging area (positioned vertically instead of horizontal) with cables through the cutouts for charging. ... and I still forget my phone when I get out of the car.

I am considering a Mag Safe that fits in the cup holder.

i either sit my phone vertically in the cup holder, or vertically against the A/C buttons and it leans on the dash...

Yes, I use it, though I don't like giving up a cup holder, it's helpful to see the phone sometime and I don't leave it behind. I can't use the charging port because I have a cover that I don't want to take on and off.

Mostly to mount my phone for
- Video conference
- View app with detailed traffic information on: dangerous situations on highway (stalled cars, objects on road, etc), speed traps, and traffic light info (how long red/green remaining)

Thanks for sharing the links. I have used Proclip mounts in many vehicles in the past 5 years. Good quality stuff. Like the placement For the Macan EV.

In the last few years I have joined the keep it my pocket club with wireless CarPlay. Use case for these mounts for your situation and many others gives better access for those that need it.

Between the 2 examples you mentioned, there are several million drivers in this category in the US.
