I think I found the first little problem with my car. The rain sensor mode (up one level on the stalk) is just awful. Has anyone else had a problem with it?

It technically works, as it will trigger in the rain, but it won't increase wiping speed when the rain gets heavier. It always acts like it's a light sprinkle even when it's pouring. It wipes maybe every 30 seconds or so. The sensitivity rocker switch also doesn't appear to do anything, except trigger one wipe when it's changed. On the other hand, once the rain stops, it keeps wiping a dry windshield far too long. So basically it's too sensitive when it's not raining and not sensitive enough when it is raining.

I've had rain sensors on cars going back 20 years now and they've never been this bad. My RS5 works great, and the Q5 I had before also had no issues.

Mine works as should and it’s a great improvement over my Tesla (and mine was working better than many other users).
Thanks! That gives me hope that it's a software/calibration problem or just a defective sensor. I'll take it back to the dealer and have them look.

Perhaps adjust the sensitivity.

"When the rain sensor is activated, the wipe interval is automatically regulated.

Adjusting the rain sensor sensitivity
  1. Press switch B upwards – high sensitivity (more frequent wiping).
    – or –
  2. Press switch B downwards – low sensitivity (less frequent wiping)."

Yep, like I said in the post, that switch does absolutely nothing to the wiper speed in my car. It's looking like mine is defective, which is a relief. I was worried it was just bad in general.

Good news! The rain sensor was misaligned and not attached to the windshield. Now that it was reattached, all is well.
