The rear wiper is a no-cost option here in Australia.

I think it looks better without it but my wife reckons I will regret not having it

I would only option it if I lived where it snowed quite a bit. Less for the actual snow, but more for the dirty road mist/debris that covers the rear of winter cars. I did not opt for it, no regrets!

Not my photo. Doesn’t look like snow even had much of an impact. Even more in the no wiper camp!

I live in Canada. You DO NEED a rear wiper for winter. But even in summer, the rain water at low speed would stay on the window and makes a very poor vision.
What is a shame is if you have the noise insulating window, you can not have the rear wiper.

Rear visibility is minimal through rear window as it appears so far, narrow, and highly slanted vs. Macan ICE version, so I do not see any functional value for having it, with a plan to make sure it has ceramic glass coating or similar to roll off the rain water. The snow is a different story. There is no question Macan EV looks better without it.

It looks better without.
In rainy UK, I find turning on rear window heating for a while increases visibility a lot. Besides, good rain repellent helps too.

How many times you'll be following your own car and looking at it from the back vs how many times you'll be sitting in the inside and looking back? :)

I didn't spec the rear wiper but I used a rain repellent / hydrophobic product. Happy of my choice (since I got the car we got a lot of heavy rain and lately snow here so I tested visibility through rear window and I don't miss the rear wiper)

Form v function. That is the question. What is most important to you! I struggled with this question too when I ordered my car. I ordered it with the wiper ($150 CDN) if I remember correctly. Then I called the dealer two weeks later. He said it was too late. It was in the system with the wiper. Once, I received the car I have used it a lot. Now I am glad I got it!

I have had a Polestar for 3 years in UK and never missed it. Snow is no problem. Two minutes of heated rear screen and it’s gone or even better preheating before you go. Once driving you wouldn’t know it’s raining or snowing at back.
Plus my SA said it has significant effect on range (I’ve no evidence other than why would he put me off paying for it as it’s a coat option on UK). He was adamant I didn’t want it and given my experience I didn’t order it.

Exactly.
Sedans don't have a rear wiper, and Macan is much like it at the rear window.
As you say, putting on the heated rear screen for a couple of minutes clears rain/snow.
By the way, someone posted here somewhere how much adding each option loses range, and for the rear wiper it came to about 5 km ie 3 miles loss. So, not much.
