My 2025 Macan EV4S drives and looks great. When I chose it at end of lease on my Taycan 4CT, it was for several reasons. One glitch since delivery: I press and hold the power switch to shutdown, clear the PCM message “goodbye” and slide out the drivers door- but the car turns back on! So I reach back in and press the button again! Seems wrong. Any ideas?

Wait until you discover PARK does not always work ;)
I've had this scenario couple of times - tried to park, car moved.
Turned off the car, it turned back on.
I think it detects movement on drivers seat.
Shouldn't work like that but what can you do.

I like the car but honestly I haven't had this many (serious) issues with any other car after delivery.

Mentioned in another thread, don't use the main on/off power button. Simply come to a stop and press ”PARK.” This will end your drive and you can exit the vehicle and walk away (with comfort system locking the vehicle). As noted, occassionally, you might have to press PARK twice to get it to engage, but it is rare for me. Similarly, to start driving, get in and select “D” for drive (or “R”). Unlike most Porsche vehicles, there is no need to reach to the left of the steering column to start up or shut down the vehicle.

The PARK button needs to be pressed for some minimum length of time. I’m not sure exactly what that is, but if you press it for a second it will always work.

And yes, the car will sometimes turn operational readiness back on when you exit because the key is still in range. Ignore that and just walk away, the car will turn off and lock.

Well for one, you don't need to hold the power button.
and two, just exit the vehicle. Turn on the option to have the car power off when you walk away. Works every time.
the issue is that, once you hit the power button, the car doesnt know if you're comign or going....and when you LIFT your butt of the sit, if you don't get out in one motion, and you rest back on the seat as you're getting out...it think you've sat back down or are getting in the leave....

Just set the car to power off when you walk away, OR wait until you're out of the seat completely to hit the power button

Hi. It happens 33% of the time to me too. I don’t reach in, rather prefer to sit back in the drivers seat(*) press the brake and the off or power switch left of steering wheel.
(*) Gotta Love Porsche engineers 😳🤪😂! Amazing engineers for sure. Have had many ICE models and a die hard fan. Not for software though.
Here’s the dead give away: they over engineered the Macan EVs with more semiconductors and sensors that most of us could ever imagine.
That array of semiconductors and sensors and software need to speak to each other 1,000% of the time.
Eamples include:
- sensors under each seat and in the top of our dashboards that can sense the temperature in each area of the car to level the temp in that section of the vehicle.
- sensors if we are watching g the road or distracted
- driver seat has sensors to ensure we are present hence it’s better to sit in the seat and turn the car off vs reach in standing outside and press P to turn it off

rarionale: for those of us who came back to find our cars dead cuz 12Volt batt was dead irrespective of massively charged main battery and find the car locked and key fob door release plan per manual didn’t open the car to our shock find that it’s safer to ensure the sensors in the car know the driver is shutting down the systems fully to avoid the 12V staying alive awaiting further commands and draining itself.

we should do as we feel best.

Personally I sit back down, press brake and power to shut systems down and slide out. Shut the door. Lock the door with the key fob and await to see rear and front lights turn off (30seconds).

Then I feel I have a better chance of not inadvertently causing my 12V to die again. Once burnt twice shy for me. Cheers.
