Try this:
Settings, Vehicle Settings, Vehicle Locking Systems. Under comfort access, disable the Unlocking the Vehicle without using the vehicle key. Now go to the front of the vehicle with your key fob, and try sweeping motion by the Porsche Logo, left to right, and down motion. My 4 does not open the frunk no matter what sweeping motion I do. Note: After car wash, you may enable back to auto lock/unlock.
I think the objective is to disable the system without reverting to disabling it within the PCM which becomes too much effort. It will work (of course).

Did the keyfob method not work?

Potentially the Macan EV is different in this regard but works on other Porsche models for sure.
From what I can see, this would be a function of the key fob itself (as opposed to a function within the car) and the new-style EV key doesn't appear to do It.

What does the key look like (not sure what you mean by 'new style'?

I mean new style relative to all previous Porsche fobs I've had. Sorry, I no longer have any other Porsches, so I can't do a side-by-side, but the new key, while similar in shape to the previous ones, has two major differences (besides, apparently, not having the two-button press function): the order of the buttons is different (now, moving away from crest: frunk/unlock/lock/trunk). This has been a source of complaints on some reviews (silly, I think) where reviewers complain of opening the frunk with the first button, instead of unlocking the car. It is true that you cannot navigate the buttons by touch now.

The other difference is that there is no longer a contained emergency key.

There is an emergency key though located in the glovebox (weird place to store!)?

Also a new feature of holding the key fob to the windshield.

Does this work with the motorized charging ports too?

I'm not sure if it does. My 4 has a manual charge port door. But you always disable auto lock/unlock then touch/tap the charge port door. Hoping wont open.

I am your cautionary tale on washing. My car has comfort access and motorized charge ports. I used the two button on the remote method to disable comfort access ... but it didn't work. I learned that by simply spraying the car with water and the first charge port opened. Then the front trunk opened and it opened every time I wiped soap near the bumper (if it were usually this easy to get that gesture to work!).

I managed to keep water out of the car because I was lucky and because, after a minute, I threw the keys in the house. But then I was mad that I was able to fondle every part of the car and the alarm didn't go off. ;)
