The iX number seems a bit unrealistic, though I know people can get 500km or a bit more in real world use. I should say it isn’t crazy but best case reporting and I don’t know of anyone actually reporting driving an iX anything near 600km on a single charge.

the Macan number seems reasonable, if maybe a tad lower than I’d expect (~250km at 50%). Is it new?

I mean, I guess it all comes down to details. If you limit your speed to 90mph then the iX can go that far.

I’m working from the perspective that most people on trips are going to be at 120kph and you’d want the guess-o-meter range algorithm to reflect that.

Not a reliable number. The vehicle’s computer will initially calculate the range based on the prior driving and will recalculate once you start driving again. It will often show a high number which will go down as soon as you start driving. Same thing used to happen with my ICE BMW X6. If I would fill the tank after coming back from the outreach clinic which involved some highway driving, it will show 400+ miles of range. But it will recalculate to a much lower number as I drove back home in the city.
Best thing is to stop obsessing about the variable range and to enjoy driving the vehicle! :)

not reliable
have to actually drive
results will be skewed by traffic/terrain/speed/weather
50% is not the same amount of kWh's/battery capacity

this is a mostly meaningless comparision - not sure what it achieves

two different EV with radically different characteristics showing two radically different random number as an inaccurate range estimate that is easily skewed by factors outside the driver's control.

might as well roll dice.

My current charge page is indicating I could drive almost 350 miles, averaging 3.4 miles/kwh.

Over all measures of driving since I have had the car, I have NEVER averaged more than 3.3 miles/kwh for any day's driving at all according to the app.

I think they may have this algorithm using 'AI' so it can make up whatever it wants here. It certainly isn't using my driving history.

For me, this made up, fake number has been increasing, but my actual efficiency from driving around has not.

I don’t doubt that iX can get more range but don’t have any first hand experience myself. That said I never used the guess’o’meter in the car for any validation. I just checked and it says this lol

Not sure where that graphic came from, but Edmunds 70 MPH range test showed just the opposite. They didn't range test the Turbo but they did test the 4. Got 352 miles (566 km, thus 283 for 50%).
For the iX they got 290 miles (466 km, thus 233 for 50%).

We have an iX M60 and a Macan Turbo, we can get 550km out of the M60 in reasonable conditions. The Macan Turbo is less, but it is more efficient just with a ~10kW smaller battery pack...hits the range that is possible.

On a side note, it’s crazy to me how many iX forum members have ended up over on this forum.

Small but meaningful difference the Macan is on 20 inch wheels and the iX on 22’s. I find both guess-0-meters to be on the optimistic side and you can deduct for both around 50km’s of range. Conditions are ideal and the numbers shown are 2/3 to 3/4 of highway km’s At around 120km/h. The Macan is 9 month’s old with around 10k km’s the iX is 3.5 years old with 67Kkm’s
The Macan shows an energy capability of 89kwh in carscanner and the iX shows 101kwh … (think my iX had 105kwh net advertised)
So the battery of the Macan lost more capacity in 6 month’s and all in all maybe 8 DC charging stops. I keep both cars between 20 and 80% …
I love the Macan, but on road trips I would take the iX …

Really? Doesn’t the fast charging of the macan make the iX seem outdated? I stop every 150-200 miles anyway so the fast charging seems like a better proposition on trips. I think it would beat my iX on a long range race, I’d put money on it.
