Video showing Macan frunk fitting plane carry-on suitcase / luggage

Here the pictures for we have all heard many saying a trolley bag will not fit in its frunk. So I googled and there is a general agreement that airport trolley bags are “22 inches long, 14 inches wide and 9 inches high including handles and wheels.”

Is the bag in this video that 22” size or his the bag he is holding up and placing into the frunk smaller than typical?



Anyone try this? Work for you?

I would be BEYOND shocked if a full sized carry on fits in the frunk. That looks small to me. I will try it this week when I get my eMacan, though, and post a photo.

I have a full-sized carry on that's seen a lot of successful travel.

TU. I too was very surprised by the video and why I wonder if his was some special/custom one with a 20” or thereabouts max length. I may be mistaken but thought a full sized was 26” max dimension, with an airport/trolley bag being 22” max length.

We await further testing.

That was clearly a very small suitcase. This was one of the first things I tested after bringing my 4S home this week.

I can conclusively say that it will not fit a typical carry-on suitcase. I tried the Tumi Alpha International Expandable 4 Wheeled suitcase which is 22.0"x14.0"x9.0" and it was not even close to fitting (and was not fully expanded to the 11” height). It fit lengthwise but would have to be about 2” smaller in height and/or width to avoid one side of the suitcase hitting the hood.

The same suitcase fit perfectly in the frunk of my previous Tesla Y which has a rectangular compartment as opposed to the Macan EV which has a sloped area toward the back.

That looks like a Porsche Design Roadster Dardcore 4w Trolley S. 550mm (21.65") x 380mm (14.96") x 230mm (9.06"). Because of companies like Ryan Air and other low cost ones that are really strict on size limits (so they can upcharge), the dimensions likely include the wheels and handle bump. That could make a difference.

Also, not sure if the Tumi was expanded to collapsed, but when expanded it is 11" thick

The Tumi suitcase was not expanded and meets nearly all international airline size restrictions.

this is a 55x25x40 cm luggage (which is in EU the very maximum companies accept as hand luggage)
it fitted perfectly, even with the additional frunk waterproof coverage installed
yes, the luggage goes above the upper limit of the frunk, but still you can easily close it without pushing hard the cover.

Is there a physical latch for the frunk? What if I have no power?

in the user manual is written : need to use an external 12V power supply. Remove a cache on the left on the front bumper, near a sensor, there are 2 cables hidden there. then use the button on the fob
