Michelin Pilot Sport EV and handles well in the snow still. I'll probably switch to Michelin Pilot Sport 4 all seasons when it's time to change for that extra bit of grip as it looks like some of you had these from factory.

UK based they only come with summer tyres all year round and no legal requirement to change to winters here unlike other countries.

I realize it's actually the same in France 🤔 Fitting new cars with summer tires by default (as I just read) feels unsafe?

At least if they fitted with all weathers it would be an improvement and more in keeping with the SUV - so far though has handled well but likely because it has full tread. Will be switching them out as soon as they wear down.

Has anyone in the UK on 22” found decent all season tyres? My car is on Bridgestone summers and they are atrocious in the snow!! I jumped in my model Y today on pilot sport all seasons and it was a dream.

Surely Porsche have been selling the Macan into counties where the weather is colder on decent all season tyres?! Where are these countries and please send us your tyres - preferably Michelin PS4 all seasons!! 😅🙏

Is it possible to fit run-flat tires on the standard Macan 4 wheels? I had them on my BMW's for ages and they have helped me out a bunch of times living in a city with tons of nails and debris everywhere.

Yorksjar - I have Michelin Cross Climate 2 tyres on my Lexus RZ and I have found them to perform well and be quieter than the Dunlop Sport Maxx summer tyre fitted - I have looked to see if the CC2's are available for my Macan 4S coming in March with standard S 20" wheels - they are BUT I think if you have 22" they are not. Current pricing indicates about £ 1k

I asked for Michelins when I put in the order but was told it was the only thing on the car that the dealer couldn’t specify. I got Bridgestones on 22 inch rims - would like to know why Porsche cannot give customers a tyre option as they seem to like giving their customers options in every other aspect of car choice.

Got the Bridgestones as well on my standard 20 inch Turbo wheels, not a fan to say the least …

I'm riding on 22" Continental all-season and, I have to admit, I cannot discern a difference between the tire noise in my car and my friends' Turbo with Michilins. I also can't yet discern a difference in handling, but we'll see if that changes.

My winter tires are Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 SUV on 20 Macan S. I've never seen my summer tires on the 21 Macan S though, because my dealer sent them directly to what we norwegians call a "tire hotel". :giggle:

Should we try to combine information from this thread on how happy people are with each brand/model? Seems like something @tmrqs would love 😀

Hi,

Quick review for those that want/have to install winter tires. My Macan 4 came with the 21" Offroad Design wheels (295 35/R21 rears, 255 40/R21 front). I have not driven with the Michelin Pilot Sport All seasons yet as I had the winter tires installed on delivery. I got the Pirelli Scorpion Winter 2 as that was pretty much all that was available for the size.

Regarding traction, these tires work well on deep and compacted snow. However when the snow is shiny-smooth and slightly wet, basically a thin layer over the road, then they can make turns a bit more fun, and braking loses traction even at slow speeds. But to be fair, that specific condition is slippery for everyone. Acceleration on any condition with the AWD has been flawless, but the car's AWD system is definitely rear biased, at least for a short period of time, so I have accidentally drifted through a turn with snow/ice a couple of times. Braking on ice is actually better than I expected, but the weight of the Macan doesn't help shorten the distance.

The main aspect of these tires that were better handled on Michelin X-Ice Snow, is the road noise. The Pirelli's are extremely sensitive to the road surface type. They can be almost as silky smooth and quiet as the Michelins on one road surface, but then harsh, rough and very noisy on other surfaces. The Michelins were soft, quiet and smooth everywhere. I do find the Pirelli's predictable though, in that I have a good idea of when traction will break just by eyeballing the snow/ice in front. I can live with the road noise because of how predictable they are. They are not rated as low-rolling resistance, so range will definitely take a hit. These tires are ridiculously expensive, but any tire will be at the size that the Macan uses. These tires were made EVs and to handle their weight.

A survey with over a dozen types of tires, across 3 different sizes, with 3 possible opinions about them... over 100 possible answers, sounds like a fun survey.
