Hi All,

Just realised today that you can turn both vented and heated seats on at the same time, would have thought it would default to only cool or hot and turn the other off automatically.
Does this mean I will get warm vented seats rather then cooling? ?
Or will the Macan not be to handle it!

There are a few use cases for me, since Heating and Cooling are just clever marketing terms to make you pay for this stuff. Heating is achieved through a coil (wire) and Cooling is via a fan pushing air into the cushion.

Heating is more efficient if you have Cooling fan on (low) since the air will flow over the coil to distribute the air more efficiently, but some do not like the feeling of air flow when you want to get warm, so you would just sit on the coils that take much longer to distribute heat through the leather surface.

Drying the seats is more efficient if you have Heat on (low) and Cooling (high) if you happen to be in the rain and make the seat surface wet.

Both work at the same time if you wish. Use case might be heat for sore back, with cooling to keep your overall temp comfortable.

These functions should be powered by the 12V not the HV battery. I doubt much impact on Range. You can see the latest video from State of Charge that shows what really impacts range...speed:

Cooled seats are not really cooled seats, they are just ventilation fans. As such it can be good to turn on heat and also the fan on low to ensure you don’t get sweaty. Or if you just want to feel warm air on your backside :)

I was under the impression that they are connected to the A/C system. I only used the feature briefly to try out (haven't had a real need for it yet) and the air seemed cool, not just ambient temperature.

Maybe. I guess I’m only speaking from experience in BMWs, Audis, and Volvos, where this button really only controls ventilation/seat fans. It’s only blowing cool air if you have AC on providing cool air.

The 12V battery still gets all its charge from the HV, so there's no difference in amount of range it takes.
But let's say the vented fan is 50 Watts, and let's say the heating coil is 100 Watts, that's 150 Watts. Run that for four hours and you will lose 2.8 miles of range!

Also, yes -- the "cooled" seats are really just "ventilated" seats. They pull air from the floor area and push out through the seat, using a small fan. I think that fan uses less than 50W to be honest. (The heating coils might do more than 100 Watts, though? Is there a number somewhere?)

If the floor area is warm, the seat venting will be warm. If the heater is on, the seat ventilation will be warm.

And the massage seats are little air bladders that inflate/deflate using a low air pressure pump and some switched valves for the sequencing.

No A/C connection just fans under the seat cushion to provide cooling.

Same on all Porsche cars and other brands.

Cheers thanks for all comments, I might just run the seats on 1st setting vented all the time then can add in 1 to 3 heat depending on temp. ?

It's the other direction. Ventilated seats pull air through the seat into the footwell, creating negative pressure between your body and the seat, as the objective is to move heat and humidity away from your body. A fan blowing Into tiny holes would not be very effective.

Running the fan will reduce the efficiency of the seat heater because it will be drawing the warmed air from the wire heating mat back away from you. But if you want your seats to be warm but still have good airflow so you don't get sweaty, you can have them both on.
