To select the epensive passenger display just to visually balance out the front right dash area makes no sense. But the right side fingerprint and dust magnet looms large. Anyone come up with something that works visually for you in that piano black expanse?

I was thinking about putting a carbon fibre wrap but undecided until t see my carbon fibre side blades done in a few weeks. I can get the ppf guy to hold up a sample for a picture

I wasn't interested in the passenger display for my Turbo and actually prefer the overall look without it; I think the shape of the dash looks more balanced and integrated without the passenger display. I've had the car for about a month and it's definitely not a fingerprint magnet (and I have kids). There's really no reason for a passenger to reach for the dash in that section and it doesn't seem to attract much dust.

One thing I wasn't crazy about was the carbon material for the dashboard decorative strips (under the piano black dash panel) and matching decorative door trim (standard on the Turbo). I thought there were too many textures going on so I opted for Interior Trim in Leather (code 7TM) for CAD$ 220 (I had already selected the Extended Leather Package). I don't think this trim option is selected very often but it really cleans up the visual "clutter" in the dash and door panels and enhances the tailored look of the full leather interior.

your question is why my wife likes to get the passenger display - what to do with the space if you don't have it - and when she's in the car it's sometimes useful to have two displays

the Passenger display in the Macan has more promise vs. Taycan - and I'll tell you why…

if you take a screen shot of your iPhone while car play is "active" you get multiple screens - one for the phone and one for the "car plays display" - on my taycan w/Passenger display I would get two screen shots:
  1. Main phone display
  2. CarPlay display
this means carPlay was being "told" by the vehicle it only has one additional display to 'give' - so that also means CarPlay couldn't 'draw' on the passenger display - since there was no display present when connected to the car - only the PCM main screen was configured/offered

on my Macan I get 3 or more displays…
  1. main phone display
  2. PCM CarPlay display
  3. 3rd display [blank/black]
  4. sometimes a 4th display [blank/black]
this means the new software in the Macan EV is "offering" many separate displays to the CarPlay system, but so far neither Apple/Porsche are doing anything with these "extra" displays…

having been in the computer industry for 30+ years - this is one of those things that makes you go "hmmmmm…"

will this ever amount to anything - that's up to Prosche - so we can't say for sure…

right _NOW_ it does nothing for you

but future software update?

right now we know the Macan does at least two things it could not do in the Taycan w/CarPlay…

  1. CarPlay can display driving instructions in the HUD
  2. CarPlay can display it's map in the main dash display behind the steering wheel (full map display when you configure the steering wheel display to "show maps" and driving instructions are "active" in AppleMaps on your phone…
why is my 2024 Macan Turbo EV presenting multiple displays to my iPhone for CarPlay - what are Porsche's plans for these "extra" displays?

things that make you go "hmmmmmmm"

YMMV
