I suspect the factory will close for 2 weeks during Christmas time. This is due to the dates of start and end of production. Normally this is 6 days. For some it takes 2 weeks longer I have seen here and there on the forum. My Macan goes into production on December 10th and then comes off the assembly line on December 16th and is at the dealer on December 24th.

Not unusual at all, no. The system constantly shuffles around the dates. Any changes of less than 10 days isn't worth worrying about.

Right now, everything’s a complete mess for me. The car’s built and sitting in the lot, suffering through the German winter.

The delivery date has been pushed from late November to December 3rd, then December 7th, and the latest update from yesterday has moved it to December 13th. My dealer is already mentally preparing me, saying there’s a chance it could be delayed past January 2025.

The kicker is that, although they don’t seem to have any solid info on the reasons, they’re leaning towards two possibilities: logistical issues (which feels like the go-to excuse) and intentional delays from Porsche globally because they’ve already met their 2024 targets.

Either option is disappointing. But the second would be a direct slap in the face to their customers.

Bottom line, I’m feeling pretty let down right now. And not in the way a kid would be if they couldn’t get their toy ASAP (I ordered the car in April).

I’m disappointed because it’s shocking that a brand would even hint that it’s POSSIBLE (and they’ve done it before) to prioritize anything over customer satisfaction and delivering on their commitments.

Thanks, out of curiosity I was wondering why the freeze date was the end of November but they were not planning to start production till mid Jan. Where the typical freeze to prod complete is about 3 weeks, this is 6 weeks. That could make some sense to me if everything shuts down for awhile, but they still wanted to be prepared for restart on day one.. .. or perhaps is the 4S or both.

I've special ordered a few cars from other manufactures and it always seems that untill they actually start production, things are fluid.

I think your dealer is full of shit. Late November to December 13th isn't a big deal. That could just be transport logistics or software timing. A two-three week delay is par for the course for factory cars.

If it gets pushed into 25, then you have something to be upset about.
