Will all macan get the GTS PCM update that gives you charging speed based on the battery's temp?

Hi guys, i've seen on a lot of Macan gts reviews that the PCM is a little different and espacially with the SoC and charging speed estimation before plug in. I <ould love to have that on my 4S . Any idea if thats supposed to be added ?

If the GTS is a 2026 model, and your 4S is a 2025, the hardware is a bit different and Porsche has no plans to port it to older hardware.

That's really a shame, i bought my 4S last december , I doubt that the 4S's PCM cannot have the expected charging speed fonctionality but i guess they have to create a product difference among all different models

My MY26 Turbo has it
But a friends MY25 Turbo doesn’t and he’s had the update
So I don’t think you will

Which is a shame

I asked Porsche (the manufacturer, not my dealer) about it and they confirmed that older model years will not receive the „new“ software from the 26 model year. We will only receive bugfixes (if any) going forward. That means explicitly no charging planner improvements, no GUI improvements, no charging speed, no SoH display and no Digital Key. You will have to buy a new MY26 for that.

They said the new models run on a new hardware cluster and it is common practice in the industry that older years don’t receive new software. They must have never heard of Tesla or BMW.

This is not about 4S vs GTS. All MY26 cars (even base models) receive the new features, just not older cars.

Personally I am quite disappointed by that, I was expecting OTA Updates when I bought the car. I should have known from the Taycan…

There may be a nuance here. It is rare that manufactures continue updating older module software after a hardware change as most of the time the new features require the updated hardware. Neither BMW nor Tesla does that unless it is a safety recall. Just about all manufactures update software with improvements otherwise, at least for awhile. Rags like consumer reports count these improvements as defects/failures in the reliability stats, so manufactures are penalized. They typically reduced the frequency of the updates or stopped doing them.

Really insight full informations thank you !

i am a first time Porsche buyer so i figured they would be on top of those kind of things. I come from an audi RS3 almost 40k cheaper yet OTA updates were far more substantial.

I would agree with most of what you said but I doubt that the improvement in the charging planners has to do with hardware because the MY25 models have pretty much top notch data battery pourcentages infos. i just need to corralate the SoC and the battery temp to estimate the speed of charging in advance ( but what do I know , not an engineer)

I received similar reply as a first feedback from Porsche.
They also do not plan to offer a hardware upgrade from Cluster 43 to Cluster 46. (26 models), as many of these new functionalities are closely linked - both technically and from a regulatory perspective - to the installed control units and the vehicle’s type approval.

Overall, very disappointing - EVs as software defined vehicles rely on manufacturer's dedication.
Driving a car, which is not even a year old and is already outdated is mind blowing.

Would you please post a picture of what we are all talking about it here. I hope this is the feature from the Taycan refresh, which is a shame it was not offered on the Macan EV at launch.

This is the Taycan refresh launch slide that shows that function including that the car would alert the driver if the charging station is not delivering (blame the charger) the max that the car can accept - that is cool.

Are you saying that MY2026 now has the left tube left element feature as shown here:

Comparisons with Tesla re: upgrades are fascinating. Yes, my Model 3 got many minor tweaks and UI updates, and even one power upgrade. All gratefully received but of no great impact to my ownership experience.

On the other hand, a feature which I did pay for never actually worked and in reality never could have worked - FSD of course. My car had a hardware module that will never support it. Even current Teslas will likely never support it. Yet we paid for it, beta or no.

I’ll take the conservative option of buying a car with a set of features I like and paying for them, rather than over-promises and under-delivery.

Sure, that is one way to look at it.
I am still disappointed to not receive the charging planner filters, that is literally the only feature I would really want from MY26. And that is impossible to require a hardware upgrade, that is pure software. I expected Porsche to deliver such things via OTA but got proven wrong.

When Tesla introduced an updated Models S in 2022 with the landscape oriented screen my 2020 was left without many updates. It still received some updates like language, etc. but nothing major. This is normal and Porsche is just the same.

Did you connect with [email protected] to get this confirmed?
At least from my past interactions, they seem to listen and good suggestions.
