Struggling to get charging profiles (for lower overnight tariff) on new Macan 4 being accepted by my Wallbox Pulsar Plus.
Never had an issue with my Taycan (3 different models) - using same charger with programming for later evening charging profiles dictated by Porsche PCM.
Presently I plug in the new Macan with similar preset charging profiles active and within 30secs the Wallbox Pulsar Plus has gone to lock out Leeds flashing) status!
Iā€™ve upgraded the firmware on the Wallbox, tried both charging ports on the car - each time ā€œRed flashingā€ lock out status on the charger. As attached shows Iā€™ve even lowered the amps being delivered to the car to 20/21amp)

(Ironically if I choose to direct charge from Wallbox there is no issue they metaphorically ā€˜shake handsā€™ and charging begins)

Anyone experienced this quirk on any Porsche EV? šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

I'd escalate to Wall Box for customer support - Porsche will be useless - for now I'd go with direct charge - Wallbox customer support is the best place to start - they will want to know about this and fix it- you're not going to be the only Macan owner trying to use their product.

if it works for direct charging it's clearly something the Porsche is doing when the charing status is "delayed"ā€¦

Definitely will be following this topic - was looking to install a Pulsar Max unit on delivery of my Macan (hopefully a couple of months - just completed V311).

Agree that Wallbox support would be the best first port of call - red blinking lights definitely wonā€™t help them sell any more units. As youā€™ve written, sounds like something in the ā€˜handshakeā€™ that the car/wallbox is expecting that is tripping it up.

Wondering if any others using a Wallbox unit could help chime in? Or bonus points for other users to indicate what third-party charger they use that play nicely with the Macan for this delayed charging function.

Let's do a survey: What kind of wallbox do people who have no problems charging use?

GEWISS JoinOn (GWJ3012A) - single phase - 7.4 kW
- No problem with Tesla M3LR
- No problem with Tesla MXP
- No problem with Taycan 4CT
- No problem with Porsche Macan
The only issue I have is that the dedicated app doesn't track charge history.... Still looking for a solution to this....

I have Macan Turbo and I have the same issue. Trying scheduling it. The car gives an error after few minutes. Tried schedule on the Macan, charger gives error in few minutes. I even tried aligning both. Again problem. I am gonna write wallbox and point them here as well.

Iā€™ve written to Wallbox again about my issue - note with care and presetting car to direct charge I can get the pulsar plus charging the Macan but it took 3 attempts resetting to get it to charge directly tonight (i think the reset of the charger needs to have the charger completely powered off for 2-3 minutes and the car must be switched to direct charge and not plugged in during this restart process)

Yes indeed. When I have an error, I unplug everything. If the wallbox is giving error, I reset it. Sometimes just unplugging resolve the errors. After that it works. It only gives error if there is any delay charging set on any of the devices.

could be because the Macan is drawing slightly more power than the WallBox is advertising - my North American Macan draws 40.7 amps from the Porsche Mobile Charger Connect (PMCC) EVSE when configured to provide only 40 amps - this is not a big overshoot and unlikley to be an actual electrical problem due to increased draw - but some EVSE's (maybe the Wallbox) will not tolerate the overshoot and shut down the charging sessionā€¦

this is an evolving issue and we'll all still learning - but I'm tracking two issues with my Macan and charging:
  • my North American Macan appears to not actually be able to charge at more than 9.6 kW (40 amps) when specifcations claims it has an 11 kW onboard charger
  • it seems to pull slightly more electrical current than the EVSE advertisesā€¦40.7 amps with a Porsche EVSE configured for 40 amp maximum.
both of these issues do not inspire confidence with Porsche and it's EVSE charging game - and continue a long tradition started with Taycan of Porsche not knowing what they are doing in this spaceā€¦
