Hi All,

Thought I'd start a thread on simple tips that has made driving the macan easier.
Just found out that if you keep the mic button down long press you get to voice control your phone like siri. I tried to short press and play an album but it won't play and will ask you to connect via bluetooth whereas you are already connected carplay.

Cheers

Or you can say "Hey Porsche" (equals short press), or "Siri" (equals long press) (obviously if in CarPlay).

Here's one I just found: if you shift into neutral, the PCM gives you the option of staying there vs. automatically shifting to Park when you open the door (I assume, the Macan version of car-wash mode?)

Two more things I found in the manual:

- If the vehicle is going in for service and will be on a vehicle lift, the automatic self-leveling function “must” be disabled. Find that at: settings, vehicle settings, additional chassis settings, activate jack mode. This obviously also is done when using a jack. Pg. 180 In my US manual.

- If there is no front seat passenger, you can raise the seat belt buckle to an indent at the top of the strap. The buckle will stay there and not rattle against the plastic on the B-pillar. Pg. 128.

Precondition the car so it's toasty hot in the morning for you using the app, set time day and repeat.

Thank you for the tip. I bought some black leatherette covers for the belt buckles for 10 Euros on Amazon. At least it work for the rattle... :) I have to check if I can raise the belt buckle on the driver side as well, since it usually fall down to the ground.

For driver's side, I used one of these. Works better.

Do you know about this useful little hook behind the B pillar? Sometimes, it's the little things that count. I'm pretty sure many cars have this but never found a good use for this until I had to find a place to keep my Porsche cap 🎩 from getting squished in the console cubbie. PS. It stays put under "normal" driving conditions but cannot guarantee it will withstand the G forces encountered during turbo launch mode :CWL:

USA Today ran an article on ev operations in cold weather. This caught my eye:

Fuel economy is 8% lower at 20 degrees than it is at 75 degrees in EVs ‒ and range can drop about 12%, according to the U.S. Department of Energy. When you turn on the interior heat, that increases to as much as a 41% drop in range.”

If that is accurate, it means that most of the reduction in range is battery usage for interior heat. The cold reduces range by 12% ( OK, a general statement; obviously depends on the vehicle and battery chemistry). Still, 29% (41% minus 12%) of range could go away due to interior climate control (I assume it might be less if the vehicle has a heat pump, but they didn’t go into details).

They offered standard suggestions: pre-condition interior and battery while plugged in, indoors if possible, buy a car with a heat pump (as the Macan does). The one suggestion that I‘d not heard and made sense from the above: use the seat heaters more and the air conditioning (heating) less. They stated that seat heaters are more energy efficient. Good to know if you’re trying to stretch the range.

Or you could just live in Phoenix, as I do.

Thank you. But I think you have to make a hole in the belt to use it. I would not do it if this is the case.
The belt material is such that absolutely no hole is visible if you use a thin spike like the one I had in the picture below.
My previous BMW had such buttons on the seatbelts and the buckle always stayed above the button, and the buckle always remained at a convenient height to grab. Now I have done the same with this button on the driver's side seatbelt.
I didn't put this button on the passenger side yet, it already has a clip. But unfortunately, the clip slides up and down easily when putting the seatbelt on. Not ideal.
