I had never before driven any Macan EC other than a turbo (on test drives and our own). So with over a $31,000 MSRP price difference I expected a whole bunch of differences.

To start, apologies for this thread’s length, but maybe a sentence or two might be useful for some…

How wrong to think there would be a massive difference, for the entry Macan loaner is a superb Porsche, having the same great steering, handling, braking, and so much more that our turbo does. I thoroughly enjoyed this past hour driving it. For the “entry” Macan EV, first off I was so pleasantly surprised how much “quick” it has. As many of you have posted, it would be one great commuter car and MORE!

Yes there are some differences but for $31K MSRP delta, there better be some BIG ones. And for sure after this first drive, when our turbo’s lease is over, even though I have always been high power addicted (the other vehicle in the garage has 670 HP), I will HAVE to take a test drive in a 4S before deciding what to replace our current Turbo with. Hopefully Porsche would come out with a GTS version by the 2027 model year! But maybe if they do, the 4S itself would have more than enough juice for me.

As to other differences (and of course these are personal impressions only…

1) I really like the basic Limestone/black interior. Much brighter and more cheerful than our CPO s basic all black. Also like its Silvershade interior metal trim, e.g. again more alive to me than our black trim.

2) I drove it home and then on some other roads all of which I have driven 50 times over. Lots of curves, lots of straights, e.g., many roads of all kinds and surfaces. For the curvy section, I do prefer having RWS. BTW our Turbo has 22” Exclusive Design wheels compared to the loaner’s 20” Macan S wheels. Ours does have the standard turbo air suspension’ the loaner does not. Comparing the two rides, while as again many of you have posted the smaller wheels give a softer ride, I was surprised that the difference was not larger than it was. But if I lived where the roads were rough, I would opt for one with air suspension and no bigger than 21” wheels (come-on Porsche, bring us out some new, good looking 21” wheels for 2026!

3) Our CPO turbo has quite a few options this loaner does not, but while niceties, good to learn by driving the loaner which ones our CPO has will go by the wayside when our replacement, also to be a leased one is configured. One other option I would insure we again have would be surround view which our loaner doesn’t — but that could be my caution for our CPO came with the super expensive, visible carbon fiber. wheels.

4) As to why our turbo had to go to the Porsche dealership today, our power charge port was frozen shut. No matter which of the three Porsche options to open it were tried, (and they were probably tried over 20 attempts, maybe 30) — including calling to Porsche Macan ECV Customer Service specialist, and then her supervisor trying all their recommendations, nothing worked. Thankfully our Macan had enough charge left to drive the 33 miles to the dealership this morning. {The crow bar method of opening our power charge port door was considered by me for a fleeting second.}

We just took our Macan EV on a road trip to the British Columbia Rockies and while EA plug and charge worked perfectly every time, there were two stops that I had to try multiple times, several different ways, before I could get our charge port door to open to start the process. Hence, no way in hell will our replacement, 2027 Macan EV include the $500 power charge port. When I got home driving the loader, just for grins because it has 270 mile range left, I put one finger on each manual, one-finger charge port door, and both opened magically (no stress).

Hopefully Porsche does not “pulls a Taycan” and by 2027 make every Macan EV’s charge port door only power openable.

One of you posted that your dealership rep stated that Porsche is re-doing the power charge port opening system for 2026’s. Hope so!!! My SA told me today that mine was not the first to have the same frozen shut power port door, and for me not to be surprised if it takes 2 weeks to get a replacement mechanism from Germany. But they were, as always, friendly, kind and facilitating, going through some extra steps to get me my highly preferred EV loaner to drive for whatever the interval turns out to be. Thanks Beaverton Porsche for again being A+!

I did recently try out my 4S in Sport Plus mode and hitting the go pedal. Did you know that you get a g-meter alert on acceleration not only on braking?

30-60 mph at 0.6G was a good kick in the butt, and it wasn’t even trying.

I didn’t know there was a difference in air suspension between models, and all US cars come with air suspension.

I’m glad I got the light interior seats, and this is a first for me, but I’m still concerned about wear over time with this color.

Mistake in my OP I wrongly assumed the entry Macan did not have air suspension — which as you smart folks know it does in the U.S. With that being the case, I am surprised on a road that I know so well, that the 22” wheels I have were not IMO much stiffer than the 20” wheels on the loaner.

Perhaps part of this is that mine has Michelins and the loaner has Pirellis??? Or am I mistaken in even asking that question.

One other obvious to al observation, was that that its range seems to extended about twenty miles compared to my turbo.

Funny, mine usually says "1.1 g"
I wonder why that is ;-)

(Also, I think they did a really good job with the upgraded HUD on this guy. Well worth it!)

I've read a lot of posts on tire noise impressions, and it seems like the consensus is that the difference in noise is bigger between the 20" and 21" and that the 21" and 22"s were pretty similar. So this leads me to believe that the cause of the road noise has more to do with tire width than wheel diameter, since both 21" and 22"s come with 255 front/295 rear and the 20"s come with 235 front/285 rear

Base model is RWD only and therefore has a single motor on the rear axle. Less weight and a single motor logically provide more range.

Range will also be greater due to a smaller wheel rim size and narrower tyres

I currently have a Macan loaner, 4 cylinder. It’s an entirely different car.

The cooling seats never did on my 5 mile trip. Coming out of the dealer is an adventure in pushing the pedal and wondering if anything is going to happen. The collision alert went off due to a bus filling the oncoming lane. The car shudders And the signal stalk is shorter!

Now, the steering wheel is big enough to be able to see the entire set of dials, so that helps.

Sadly, my dealer is only using entry level gas Macans for loaners, so my request for a GT3 or a Boxster did not get approved

So many first-world problems

We hope the cause of your needing a loaner is soon and totally fixed.

Getting into a Macan ICE loaner was the best thing that ever happened to make me realize how great my 4S is. Software glitches excluded, it's just on another level of quality all the way around (and I've also realized I likely will never go back to an ICE vehicle.... once you get the EV tourqe, it's hard to go back to anything outside of an ICE supercar).

Indeed, very happy with my 4S...although, I did find a real-time graphic for torque distribution, front to rear, in the gas car.

Challenge accepted, Porsche, challenge accepted!

It would be cool to have this kind of info available, perhaps in the Sports Chrono package?

Got my car back now though, once they had the repair docs, attaching the rear USB-C panel correctly took an hour.

Had a Macan 4 loaner vs our turbo and thought the differences were quite significant for the price! Though I think it's also partly because the options elected by dealers tend to be more style than substance e.g. puddle lights. In a more budget constrained environment, focusing on beneath the hood options, double glazing, Bose, extended leather, massage will narrow the gap significantly but will probably end up with a price point close to 4S... :D kinda how we ended up with turbo! Porsche's spot on with their pricing strategy
