Something I discovered is the Power button puts the car in Park automatically. No chance of the car lurching forward if it is powered down/automatically in Park. Regardless I always verify that P is active.
It's funny. I almost never turn the car off immediately. I put it in park and then do stuff while the AC is running. But I have learned the defense mechanisms (brake hold, *look* at the dash to make certain it's in park, etc.) Yours is a new defense mechanism and a good add to the thread.

If you’re on hold, you can just open the door and leave. That’s what I do. Press hold, seatbelt, leave car. I rarely use the P button, never used the power button yet.

The front or rear cameras are normally on when I stop to park so I know Park has engaged as the cameras turn off. That said, I’ve never had a problem with Park not engaging. I don’t always need to engage Park, as Hawk says, I just get out with the music playing, close the door and walk away.

FWIW, the swipe to open works flawlessly on my frunk. The kick to open on the rear hatch is less reliable/harder to engage.

I've had no trouble with the park button - I do have to push it firmly, but I hear/feel a click (and see P light up on the screen) when it engages.

My main 'gripes' are the ridiculously tiny sun visors and occasional sensor malfunction messages, but those usually clear themselves right away. No rattles, other than the seatbelts, and I do wish they were easier to keep from sliding down, but it's not a big deal to me at all.

Window squirters seem like they're a little oddly aimed, as others have noted, but they are effective on my car/ could just be a matter of perception (I haven't stood outside the car when they're going to see whether they shoot over the top (seems like they might).

Plug and charge works great.

Glad I have the rear wiper, but I'm getting ceramic coating this week, so maybe will be less useful/necessary after that.

Ummm... my father in law, who walks with a cane/has trouble with balance, has trouble getting in and out of my sport seats - the high and firm seat side bolster is a little much for him (my 11 yo also gripes about it) - but I love the sport seats for myself; they're very comfy to me.

Getting 4 adults and my 11yo in the car is doable, but tight in the back.

Sport sound is easy to toggle on/off depending on my mood.

The Burmester sound, while admittedly not justifiable for the price premium, is still so, so good. I like it at least as much as the very good Mark Levinson system in my wife's new Lexus RX - you can really feel and hear the quality of the clean power from the Burmester amp/subwoofer. It is LOUD - without distortion.

I do find navigating the audio system to be challenging - having trouble figuring out how to tune the radio - I was able to just tell it ("Hey Porsche") to tune to stations I know by frequency number, but where's the slider/seek function? I've been able to find it, but it's harder to find than it should be, and I have to re-learn the path each time.

What else? I haven't messed with the "offroad" suspension setting for more than a few seconds. Each time I've switched to it, the car has immediately gotten really bouncy. But maybe I'm not waiting long enough for the air suspension to adjust? Or maybe it's really just for very slow, deliberate off-roading? Don't know, don't really care, as I don't plan on off roading w/ this vehicle unless absolutely necessary.

Completely agree. I love my 4S so far. I only got the Bose sound system but even that is fine. I haven't tried the speech reco but that's a good idea since i also find that the menu system is hard to constantly relearn. As I said earlier, no rattles either. I really think there is something wrong if the car is rattling a lot and should be addressed by the dealer. Car doors close fine (something else people are complaining about). I do find that trying to close them by pushing on the windows is a bad idea .. pushing on the door itself works well. Something I learned early on since windows are frameless. Completely agree on the sun visors.. way too small. I leased the car thinking I would hedge my bets given it's a new model. Now, I'm seriously thinking about buying out the lease especially if prices go stupidly up because of moronic tariffs. Although I read somewhere that VW is negotiating a drop in tariffs by promising to 'build an Audi factory' in the US in addition to the one they already have. We'll see.

My gripes on the Macan 4: (1) frameless doors (same with Taycan; it's natural to grab the door by the side frame to open and close after using the door handle, and this leads to lots of fingerprint smudges on the windows there constantly with no frames on the Porsche BEVs); (2) shiny "piano-black" interior surfaces (should be banned from all cars; use matte-black that reflects light poorly instead); (3) rear spoiler situation is horrible (the moving spoiler looks stupid on an SUV, and it will break; the Macan ICEV rear overhead non-moving spoiler looks much much better); (4) sun visors are too small and don't slide back, so the back third of the side window is unprotected from solar glare (should have two sun visors for each front seat, like the Cayenne has); (5) no one-pedal driving; (6) should've made space in the frunk area for an optional spare wheel/tire; (7) air suspension can and will break (I'd prefer steel suspension, but it's not offered in USA like it is in Europe); (8) I'd prefer an all-metal roof, but again it's not offered in USA like it is in Europe; (9) uncertainties about Porsche software and electrical system doesn't provide comfort for cross-country road trips.

Love it when non-owners share their "gripes." Why are you here? Are you just that bored?

cometguy - did you test drive the car before you ordered / bought.

Yes, many times -- many different Macan 4s from five different dealerships... There are lots of positives -- enough to outweigh the negatives (but that's not what this thread is about). For me, there's no other automaker besides Porsche that makes a BEV that I'm remotely interested in. And I'm done with all-gas cars (but not yet with PHEVs, and the Cayenne E-Hybrid solves most of the problems I just listed in the Macan 4, but it's just too large and too expensive for me, for what you get...).

As he has a Taycan CT4, I guess, he is in a good position to give his preferences/ā€œgripesā€, in comparison to Macan.

@cometguy, 1-4 are reasonable points. Some others have opined on these too.
Cannot agree with one-pedal driving. I love it as it is, even though I come from a previous EV that had OPD.
And about the optional spare wheel, Macan is not big enough for that. Porsche Roadside Assistance can sort out a flat tyre. Had a puncture in my last BMW, Roadside Assistance sorted it out fairly quickly.
Points 7&8 are personal config choices, available in Europe, not in the USA. So, valid point.

Fair enough. My tone was too sharp and was misdirected irritation over other non-owner posters' imagined gripes elsewhere on this forum. So, @cometguy, I apologize for the tone of my prior comment. Now, in terms of @cometguy's gripes specifically, I think that owning the vehicle is a key part of this thread, and so I will (hopefully politely this time) take issue with the following points (based on my experience owning the car): #1 fingerprints on frameless windows have not been an issue for me, except that my (older) father and law (with balance issues) has been grabbing the glass for balance when he gets out of the car, and it makes me cringe like crazy. Nobody else I've been driving around has been doing that, but it's really cringey when he does it (great guy otherwise!). #2 - I agree 100%, the piano black is a design flaw. I keep a microfiber cloth in the car to cover the black plastic when it reflects sunlight directly into my eyes, which is too frequent. #3 is a matter of opinion on aesthetics of the spoiler (I don't mind it) and I haven't had a mechanical issue with the spoiler, so I don't "know" if it will break. #4 is on my list of gripes. #5 hard disagree / OPD has been discussed ad nauseam elsewhere on here. #6 isn't a gripe for me yet (knock on wood!) and I don't know if the frunk is the solution for a spare . . . but maybe. #7 air suspension has been very nice so far, so not a gripe (from an owner's perspective) but my BMW X5's air suspension was a huge money pit, so I get the point - just not as a present gripe, just a known future risk/expense; #8 the glass roof has been very nice, not a gripe for me / not really appropriate as a gripe "after owning" - @cometguy may well continue to wish he had a metal roof once he gets his Macan, but I think he should live with it before griping on that point. #9 - the software has been surprisingly good in my experience. Not perfect. But lots better than my wife's new Lexus RX, my previous Acura MDX, so I can't count it as a gripe, from an owner's perspective.

I definitely understand that a full size spare wouldn't fit in the Macan, but I do wish they would have designed the frunk to hold a donut spare. There are some sections of highway in the US, and a lot of backroad trails, where there is zero cell-phone coverage and calling for roadside assistance isn't possible without a satellite connection for transmitting.

No rattles on mine.

Only real remaining gripe (which is getting more annoying by the week) is the lack of consistent brake regen while in coast mode (or when thrust regen is off).

Essentially the car randomly decided when to use the mechanical brakes vs regen when pressing the brake pedal. I know some others have this issue but not sure how wide spread this is. Very noticeable as it produces a wide range of consumption numbers over the last 20 days. When it works this thing could be a range monster when it doesn’t, not so much.

I would bring it to the dealer but a) I don’t want to give up the car in case they keep it for an unreasonable amount of time b) it’s not 100% reproducible every time.

Other than this, been loving the car

Doors really annoyed me.

The driver's one is especially bad, I left it to a dealership to get it "fixed" and they slighly improved it...but i still find myself having to close it twice a few times a day..

A few rattles from the panoramic roof back, but not as annoying as the doors which feel very cheap for a 90k car...
