How accurate is Porsche's Order / Delivery Tracking estimates?

We ordered our 4S in Oct and it keeps getting pushed out, now showing reaching dlr inventory mid Feb to mid April. Just curious from others experience do the estimates ever come close or should I just stop asking for updates and focus on something else?

I ordered mine in april with the promise of delivery in november. Actual delivery was in september.

Most seem to find the estimates accurate +/- a week or two once the car is frozen. Its seems there is more variability in transport over seas and delivery than anything else. A parts shortage can happen. Did you check off acoustic insulated glass?

Mine was scheduled for a 12/20 delivery but moved to 1/12 a month ago or so. On the two week countdown!

Shipping delays can definitely through some wrenches into it. For example, the Wolfsburg was originally supposed to be in Emden from Dec 23rd - 27th, but on the schedule released today its new dates are Dec 27th - 30th. It has been in the Emden port since the 23rd, but it repositioned in port on the 26th, so I'm guessing they have a backlog of ships trying to dock.

i can't imagine why your is held up so much.. it must be an option not available or something...

When I placed the order the SA showed delays for glass and 18-way seats. I skipped the glass but the seats were a must have but they did push the delivery out another month. Not sure if that's still an issue with my car or not.

No. It simply means you cannot make any changes to your configuration after that date.

My car was supposed to show up the last week of December / first week of January, but has now been pushed back to end of January. Seems to have missed the transport ship it was to be on.

I think my car missed the original boat too. Once it did leave Emden, my SA sent me the name of the ship so I could track it. We are through the Panana Canal and headed to the states!

Something got really messed up with the communications for my order, I never received any email from Porsche after the order was placed by my SA. I assumed we were still waiting to be given a build date because I had a long list of options that were in short supply, and when I followed up two months later with my SA to see if there were any updates, I found out that the car was already in production. So I never got notified about the lock date etc. and had no opportunity to make final changes -- I considered switching to a different color but it's not the end of the world.

I also have no idea which ship my car is on, the only thing I was told is that the delivery date is now 1/24/25.

So strange! I put a calendar reminder about the freeze date so I wouldn't forget. Then a week before the freeze date my SA reached out and reminded me it was last call for any changes. You can ping your SA and they will provide the boat name and the VIN (which I requested so I could check insurance costs).

He gave me the VIN but I have no idea which boat the car is on.

I haven't requested insurance quotes yet, every company that I looked at seems to want you to give up contact information to see the actual quote rather than just telling you "it's this much for that car if you live there." I have no desire to wind up on a bunch of mailing lists before I even become a customer of the insurance companies.

Unfortunately they need your personal info so they can generate the quote, because they have to pull your insurance claim and driving record CLUE report. Without that the best they could give is the comprehensive coverage cost (theft type coverage), but not the collision coverage cost.
