I had the chance to try the new Cayenne Electric turbo wednesday with an instructor. Unfortunately I was in the French town of Clermont Ferrant with a lot of traffic, but at last I had the chance to drive it on a motorway in the powerboost mode (sport plus mode) wich deliver more than 1000 hp.

What I liked :
- more space at the rear than my macan 4S
- more luxuary presentation
- better suspension (but the one I tried, had the active ride option)
- absolute power monster (on the motorway , you have a real kick in your back even at 130 Km/H)
- better electric (more range, faster charge ...)

What I did not liked
- somewhat bigger even if with the rear axle wheels it"s not so bad
- perhaps I had not enough time to make the right configuration of the seat , but I feel like a child driving a too big car (I am 6 feets 2 inch high BTW)
- not as nice as the macan (the coupe is better looking)
- beware to not accelerate in a curve at full power (too much torque)

I’ve ordered a Cayenne EV Coupe. Current delivery mid July so one of the first non press cars in the UK. Whilst it is a new model it has the same architecture etc as the previously launched Cayenne EV SUV. I’m hoping for a trouble free experience. There are a few members on the Cayenne EV forum that were / are on here.

To be fair, the Macan EV Turbo has the exact same problem...

Exactly, but it is so controlled and so much fun I killed my frist set of tires in 15K km …
I was interested in the coupe, but I like my Macan more form a styling perspective, also while it is bigger it does not result in significant more spare, yes the back has a bit more and the frunk is bigger but for the rest …
Also the range is not that different, the iX5 will have it beat on that metric, unfortunately the inside of the new BMW’s is horrendous …
Last but not least, the offer I got from Porsche for the Macan was disappointing …
In the end I upgraded the iX to the iX LCI …
If I can order a demo car with a good discount, maybe I will switch, otherwise I‘ll drive it till I cannot extend the warranty anymore.

I built a Cayenne EV S coupe and then a Macan EV GTS, both loaded with options, and the Cayenne was $34,000 more. True the Cayenne has more range, more room, PAR< and a nicer interior but that is a lot of money — especially when we are enjoying our Macan EV turbo.

I got to $150k on a 4S build and stopped! My Macan 4S is quite fine for now!

I did recently have a base Cayenne loaner, and with a few good options, that felt more luxurious than my Macan EV except for the sadly underpowered IC engine. I can see why people like them

While I prefer the size of the Macan anyway, even if interested I would not buy another first gen Porsche again. I let you guys do the Beta testing and then would buy a later model year.

I’m probably being naive but I’m hoping that after nearly 2 years of Macan experience they may have ironed out the issues. I’ll keep my fingers crossed !

My first month of production 2024 Macan EV originally had many hardware and software problems, taking over two months to cumulatively figure out. But, fingers crossed, not either a hardware nor a software issue the last six months.

Yes. I do remember the Taycan and at least the Macan could be parked in a garage, alongside a house and be charged above 80% ! Incidentally, I see the Vulva EX30 now has the same issues as the Taycan had.

I’m only 10 mins from the dealers - I hope that doesn’t become a regular trip. When I had the Range Rover Velar from new, I made a similar trip 9 times in 20 months. Only 2 in the Macan. I’ll check to see if the latest version of software in the Macan is the same as the new Cayenne.

Unfortunately, I am a sucker for the Coupe look so can’t resist the Cayenne.
