Macan EV 4 vs. Audi SQ6 - The PPE Platform Choice

Just traded in my '22 Tacan CT4 for an Audi SQ6 Edition One. I'd purchased the Taycan outright and there was no better way to set fire to my money while at the same time being absolutely smitten. It was pretty much my intention to switch over to the Macan EV when it became available, but the Porsche electric car experience has left me a bit butt hurt, so value is playing a larger part than normal.

It wasn't easy hunting down an available SQ6. Very few coming in right now. Leased with MSRP of $83,395-$7500 at .00205 and 61% for 36/10,000. Should take delivery this week and I'll be happy to share my experience if anyone is interested.

This is not my car, but SQ7 Edition Ones are all colored and equipped the same.

People on q6 etron forums seem very unhappy with software experience (tons of glitches and servers downtime) and efficiency. They are happy with the driving experience, the comfort, and they generally have a problem with the black piano finish.

So exactly the Taycan experience right down to the hated piano black.

Considered it for exact same reasons cost/depreciation. Then I saw it and thought the exterior was hideous (YMMV) More surprising was I thought interior was bad too and I generally love Audi interiors (eg I love the Etron GT interior much more than Taycan interior)

car prices were inflated then...i dont think will see the same "depreciation"... In fact, we may see values go up again cuz of these tariffs. And i personally don't think the taycan and the macan are comparable in their market values... So i dont think you should use one to value the other

I have been waiting for this discussion since I have a 2021 Taycan 4S and have been considering the Macan EV, but wondering if the price difference is worth going with the Porsche. Like OP feeling burned by the Taycan depreciation and the horrible Porsche lease “deals”. If I calculate correctly, it appears your pre tax monthly is less than $1K, which is not possible on the Macan without a huge DP. I plan to drive both and compare. I know some options are missing, like RWS, but the reality is I don’t use half of the Taycan’s capabilities for speed and handling, so worth a look at the sister EV. Please post your experience once you have the car. I agree that the posts on Audi forums point to a lot is SW issues, but this forum also has its share of Macan issues.

I've driven the the Q6 (not SQ6) and I was very much underwhelmed. It was not even close to Macan. The suspension was soft, handling and driving dynamics were typical to a bloated SUV, it barely kept straight line and steering was not precise, interior was crappy (cheap materials and rattles on a brand new car) and styling was nothing special.

I wonder if SQ6 would be any different?

I was used to love Audi, and I owned several.
“Crappy” interior is not related to Q6. Audi has made the decision to spare money on the interior few years ago… and they try to explain that it is because of sustainability reasons.
Piano black all over the surfaces, lack of real buttons, plastic instead of leather (or even fake soft leather!).
Even the masterpiece, naming the huge driver mainscreen is strangly designed : why did they integrate two square screens into the big curved rounded surface with big bezels, instead of one real rounded screen with smaller bezels?

Under the sun, it’s horrible… (personal opinion, and one of the reasons why I didn’t considère the Q6 and A6 etron)

The grill and the dashboard were awful.

I can just say as a Porsche cars only owner, I never could get used to any Audi or BMW interior ergonomics, angles, button placements when I get into one and I am open minded and like to figure things out, what you are showing above to me is just a mindless mess of steering wheel buttons and angled screens that must be stabbing your brain in your side vision all the time. At least the steering wheel is round, which is not the case in the BMW iX for example.

I feel nauseous, let me go now and sit in our Macan GTS and admire the perfection of the interior design and ergonomics.
