Macan PCM - Curated Apps For Android Auto

Now that we finally have the first Production Units finally being delivered, do we have any better idea of what ‘curated’ Apps are available for installation in the vehicle?

Whilst we all know YouTube, Spotify are available (and widely publicised from the start), I’ve always wondered whether other Media Apps like Plex, Netflix (? I thought I may have seen that in a review previously) are available - and the behaviour between main & passenger display (stationary vs driving ) and how audio is treated (subject for a future thread).

Should we potentially start a list by Region (US/Europe/Asia)?

Just curious if any current Macan EV owners can shed light on what apps are available in the app center section. I believe that's the original purpose of this thread?

Most YouTube videos are from dealerships or reviewers using review units and the app center needs a Porsche user logged in rather than guest mode. This would be for Android Automotive which is the backbone of the Macan EV PCM not Android Auto which is the cell phone connection.

Here’s the video with the app available in Italy. Don’t mind the film protection on the central display: I have to find the time to install Porsche protection film that I got thanks to my SA!

Yes exactly. But I prefer the Spotify app to the one in Car Play. In addiction I don’t like having to use car play also to make a phone so for now I disconnected Car Play from my phone and use the Apps (also for internet radio).

I'm generally Android, but keep an i-phone handy for when I was Alpha and Beta testing devs' work when we used to do native apps.

android auto's apps have expanded in recent years, but still nothing useful in it. So my expecations for this is pretty low

the data pass for US spec is 3mbps for a 10 year service. Is it the same for RoW?

the 3mbps will not be fast enough. The youtube app video quality default setting was on the lowest 360p, when I switched to 1080p, it stopped working. the 720p worked just fine, but I think the overall user experience will benefit with faster data pass or using a phone as hotspot.

Does using a mobile hotspot work?

The AccuWeather app is nice and uses Porsche's Themes and new design language for the PCM so it integrates nicely on the dash.
