Had Macan ev turbo since October has 14k miles. Things were great so far Had minor software glitches that resolved after a long night being locked and off.
Today for fist time my manual charging door did not open for me to charge the car. Nor did the right side charging door. I hope it is a glitch like the other glitches i had that a soft reset would resolve. Has anyone had a similar problem with manual charging door not opening?

My left manual port sometimes remains open even if I close the car. I will have checked when I take the car for the update (or first service....)

I have had the same issue a couple of times with the driver’s side port. I have also had a similar issue with the trunk not opening.

Took it to dealer a tech tried to diagnose and troubleshoot but no luck had to leave it there and of course they didn’t offer a loaner since it was a walk in. Had to uber to borrow parents car. Will see how long that endeavor will take!!! I guess first ever serious issue with the car since October and driving it for more than 14k !!!

It has happened to me and it was accompanied with a yellow "Charging ports Impaired. Service required" warning.
It went away on its own after locking/unlocking.
The funny thing is that I intentionally chose the manual ports to reduce risk of such problems...

You are yoking, had problems with the electric charging cover (among other issues) so car eventually went back. Reordered with manual doors to be on the safe side. Can't believe this.

I love this car, almost a year in.

I had an issue with one of the port doors not showing as closed, which prevents opening the other one.

Take it in to the dealer - they should be able to prefer a replacement for the fault port.

Hi Folks,

Adding to this thread instead of opening a new one. We had our first big snowstorm in Montreal, and I got the "Right charge port impaired" amber warning earlier today. However this is what actually happened, and the issue is on the left charge port though.

I was turning into my driveway when the dashboard and PCM completely froze, my phone call hung up and I lost sounds/music. There was a yellow warning symbol on the dash but I could not see the error since both screens froze. Luckily this happened on my driveway as losing speedometer because of software bug is not safe. I reset the PCM (held down the button for 30 seconds) and everything came back, including the warning symbol but no error message. I have manual charge port doors, but when I went to open the driver's side port for my home charging, it did not open. It felt like it was locked but I figured it might be frozen shut. So I went inside without charging since I knew I was going out again a bit later. I went to check on the car 2 hours later, powered it up and then got the "Right charge port impaired" warning. The left side door was still locked/stuck, but the right charge port had the error...except that the right door opened no problem. I left the car as is for about 15 minutes, went back and now the "right charge port" error is gone but I still cannot open the driver's side charge door. I backed my car into the driveway and am now charging on the passenger port no problem. I don't hear any ice crackling or see any snow on the left charge door but I still can't get it open. It really feels like it is locked. I have the convenience package but I still manually unlocked the car anyway.

I'll let it sit over night(since I can charge on the passenger side anyway) then see if the left door is still locked/stuck. I still stand by my belief that this car was not tested in the winter or rain, as I got a "High voltage system" warning about 1.5 hours after the Porsche dealer washed my car. It went away after a few hours but it looks like the Macan EV does not like getting wet or cold.

Hi, so now both my charge ports are not opening. It feels like they are both locked and are not unlocking. I scheduled an appointment with my dealer for December 30, and it looks like there are maintenance services, one to replace the rear cargo cover, and the other is a software update. I am at 78% battery, and I am not driving anywhere for the holidays but this is not an ideal situation to be in. 5900km and just a few days over 1 year of ownership.

It’s worth a try, continuously applying pressure with your hand where you would normally press the charge port door to open while at the same time locking/unlocking the vehicle.
May take a couple of tries but sometimes the actuator gets jammed in a position while locking and it cannot turn/unlock itself without help (you pressing on the charge port door) while it’s operating.
The fact that it’s got 2 charge port doors is a blessing and a curse as they are interlocked, can’t have both open if I’m not mistaken.

Hi,

Thanks for the recommendation! I tried it earlier today but no luck. I have an appointment next week, and plenty of battery (despite the winter weather) so I will have them check. There are no errors or warnings but maybe a stored code that is locking both doors. Anyway, just a few more days before a trip to the dealer.

Hi to All -

18k miles on my 2024 Macan 4 EV 15 Oct 2024 delivery and just had the 1 yr service early Dec.

My factory ordered/spec’d car has manual ports as I thought that if my battery is dead I wouldn’t be able to open electric port covers ?!?!

Like others herein, one morning I suddenly couldn’t open the left port which is the one I use for fast charging stations (Electrify America - official charging network for all VW brands including Porsche, Ford, etc and Tesla stations) while right port is for normal chargers.

I use right port at my home, apartment and work chargers. Fast chargers for weekly road trips on weekends.

Noting I was able to recharge with right port over night I called the order/delivery dealer and told him I wanted this fixed asap to avoid issues on my weekly travels.

He agreed and noted that in my 1-yr service I was due for any many software upgrades/updates.

Left car and got a loaner. They kept my car 2 full days to run all updates.

At pick up they stated my manual port covers locking malfunction was listed by Porsche as a software issue that needed to be updated to remove the unpredictable glitch locking my manual cover closed!!

I cannot for the life of me understand what the point of a manual port cover (like in our ICE powered cars have for gasoline pumps) if the manual port cover in the Macan EV won’t open due to software locking it.

This is a riot šŸ˜±šŸ„ŗšŸ˜³šŸ˜–šŸ˜¤šŸ¤¬

I remain a loyal Porsche brand owner since 1967 but deeply upset that ā€œover-engineeringā€ simple details like a port cover could result in leaving their customers stranded while in travel from / to our destinations.

Great engines, transmissions , suspensions, aerodynamics, etc for decades.

Software….? Not really Porsche’s DNA.

Not sure the many updates my car needed are needed by others herein. However, the fact the dealership showed me the Factory listed this as a ā€œknown issueā€, suggests I share this experience from last week with all herein today.

Share travels and wonderful holiday wishes to all.
