New Macan ICE being reconsidered

Wondering if Macan EV has a great 2025 this thinking will change.

The addiction to instant torque will spread.

it's always funny to me see "sales falling 7%" for the year", because of a car that was only out for 3 months....? IF anything, the drop in sales is because ppl were waiting for the Macan to launch.

but this is just another rehashing of the same news that came out 7 months ago... that they're gonna turn the "EV" models to "ice" ...
how are they going to do a "new" ICE macan when they already have one?

Re-evaluating product mix based on accurate sales (not just part of the first year of a new model), is healthy for every industry, e.g., matching production with consumers’ evolving choices.

When my wife and I replace our leased our iX, it will be will a pure electric Porsche. Even in our small, traditional “pick up trucks rule” onservative town, little by little more are replacing at least their second ICE vehicle with their first full EV. Some rare families recently have transitioned to owning only BEV’s. As we all have seen by now, even in the U.S. which is slower to overall move to EV’s than many countries, 2024 sales were up by 9%. Many expect even with the probable end ot U.S. EV subsidies, that 2025 will find even a higher than 9% increased purchasing rate for 2025, and significantly more for 2026 as lower priced EV’s increasingly come on the market.

In the UK, new car ICE sales (equivalent to many of the Porsche ICE range) after 1st April 2025 will have a year one VED rate of £4,680 or £5,490 on top of the price that already has 20% VAT added.

It will depend largely where you live (country) and what incentives there are to go electric. In UK there are none and if there is a new non EV Macan it will sell in bucket loads (as before) at the expense of the Macan EV. We still have the old ICE version on sale until the summer.

Ford too was surprised that in 2024 that EV Mustangs outsold their ICE Mustangs by 18%.

...the data is saying that the sales are down, and ppl are pointing to the EV's... yet the ICE range has not changed. They're all still available to buy right? If they want ICE, they can still buy ICE.

this is why i think these sales changes are not EV related, as they are just a changing market, and competition in the market

That's such an apples to oranges comparison. ICE Mustangs are a very specific car for a very specific person. The Mach E is just a generic electric SUV that Ford dealerships were literally giving away. It's easily the car I most see EV newbies in and it's also very popular as a rental car.

The only shocking thing is it only outsold the Mustang by 18%, when SUVs generally outsell 2 door sports cars by many times that.

2025 ICE Macan is still listed on the Porsche UK site for configuration, and WINGE just said it's still available till this summer...

(update) ahh so i see it depends on which country. for example, not available in france. Looks like UK is the only place that is still making ICE available

Ahem, UK is part of Europe where it is allowed. UK is not part of EU which is something else entirely.

It will be interesting to see how this develops. Hard to see the Macan electric being adapted for Hybrid — PPE was never designed to support this. Much more likely they facelift the old combustion Macan one more time, freshen up the front and rear, infotainment, interior a bit. Either way, none of that will happen fast - minimum a couple of years.

Well described. IMO also well predicted, e.g., that we see a 2027Macan ICE v2. It would pick up some of the software enahncements of EV, look somewhat evolved, yet continue forth mainly as more of the same as the current (where still sold), and/or just departed ICE Macan.

At the same point, completely not interested in a Macan v2 ICE even if it were fantastic.

...Most likely IMHO until a new Macan v2 ICE (or whatever they'll call it) exits the factory in a couple of years, the EV model will be mature enough having already surpass most if not all of its quirks and issues.This,along with a new and more efficient battery technology available at the time will make the ICE version literally obsolete.
