It’s delivery day and I’m at the dealer awaiting a final wash on my 4S. I did an initial inspection and, thanks to this forum helping me know what to look for, noticed that one of the charge port doors (manual, not electric) did not align well with the body. I drew this to the attention of my SA, and he had the techs take a look at it.

At this point, they think it’s due to the plastic clips to which the metal panel attaches. In support of this conjecture, they noticed that the panel is loose on the side that’s misaligned and not on the other (which is fine). To address this, they are ordering a replacement door assembly. I’ll have to come back to get that work done, but it’s nice to know there’s a good solution to a problem that others have experienced.

sorry but your SA doesn’t know what they are doing. Mine fixed the problem when I was standing there in 30 seconds. Just needs to “tweak” the attachment.

This is exactly what mine looks like only on the driver's side. Thanks for sharing.

Time out on blaming Porsche factory assembly, for we do not know whether that was damaged during the transport process. On average across all brands, 1% of vehicles are damaged in transport.

As a specific example, Ferrari has a large building at the Port of Baltimore where specialists repair their transit damaged vehicles; it is the only place in the world outside of Ferrari’s Italy assembly plants where they have authorized that if there is even a need to repaint a “paint to sample” vehicle, it can be done there — let alone fender replacement, wheels and tires, etc.

My SA messaged me today with news that my car has finally been delivered to dealership and included some pics... very first thing i did was zoom in to the charge port doors to see if i can spot any misalignment 🤣

didn't see any, but the pic is also from pretty far away haha. will be one of the first checks i do when i pick up the car lol

…OR they tried that (as I did), and it didn’t work. Given that the painted, metal panel attaches to a plastic door assembly, I’m not yet ready to dismiss their explanation. The important thing is that it’s on THEIR to do list to fix.
