Phone as Key is coming - found option called ‘Digital key’ in PCM

To give you at least some hope . In the Taycan the hardware for comfort access was always included. Even if you didn't bought the feature itself. But tbh I don't know if it's the same for the Macan. We'll see.

My two previous Taycans had Comfort Access even though I never specced it. My 2-month-old Macan doesn't.

Same for my taycan, according to the dealer it was due to lack of other spare parts after COVID.

Apparently for the same reason my taycan doesn't have the electric adjustment for the steering wheel (while my Macan has it on the base steering)

Any theories on whether this would require comfort access? I chose to not spec that but my freeze date is about a month away.

Good question- I don’t have comfort access - dealer specified car and miss it!!

This is good news, my Macan hasn't even been delivered but I already planned a work around for lack of digital key. If this pans out to be true, my work around will not be necessary. I bought Faraday bags on Amazon for $7.00 to keep the key fob in the car. I tried it on my other cars and it works flawlessly. You just put the fob inside the bag and close it. That will allow you to lock and unlock the car with the app even though the key is inside the car.

Keeping the key in the Faraday bag in the car may be a convenient idea.
However, didn't others say if your car gets stolen, the insurers ask whether you still have both keys with you? Otherwise, they won't pay out.
Yes, its difficult to get stolen like that but nothing is impossible for determined thieves.

I do not believe the fact that I do not have both keys in my possession would be a proper basis for my carrier to deny coverage. If such a thing were to happen, I would likely have a bad faith lawsuit filed against my carrier by the end of business the same day over some bullshit like that (I am a lawyer).

The problem is, unlocking the car via app takes Forever. And you can’t drive the car without key. Don’t think it’s as fast as the Tesla app, nothing near.

Sorry for being slow, but I'm not sure what the goal of this is.

So would it be that when you use the car, you would get your phone, launch the app, unlock the car from the app, then get into the car, remove the key from the faraday bag, and start the car and drive off? Then when you park, you would put the key back in the faraday bad, get out of the car, pull out the phone, launch the app, then lock the car?

Same thought came to me.
Too slow and too long, as locking/unlocking through the app is slow!
May as well use the key as normal than go through this rigmarole.

I suspect it's a system app that is still being tested and launched to customers yet. Hopefully they will do an OTA at some point to activate it...

Macan EV internal docs state that Porsche Digital Key will be available CW (calendar week) 25/25 at the earliest.
