If you are having Plug & Charge setup issues, please see the following post: Plug & Charge setup

On a typical week, charging at home using the Mobile Charger solution will very adequately suffice. However, I bought the Macan to go on the road and Plug & Charge provides streamlined tech for that.

I recently used a DC fast charger at an Electrify America station. Iā€™m happy to say that the charging experience was basically flawless. With Plug & Charge, it really is as simple as:
1. Pull up and park at the charger
2. Open the charge port door
3. Connect the charger, The session takes about a minute to initiate and start automatically
4. Wait for the charge to complete. You can stop the charge any time or wait to reach the target charge percentage.
5. Disconnect and drive away. Powered charge port doors or a manual close take care of the rest.

Our Solterra, does not have plug & charge. It is a much more complicated experience when on the road. You have to find the correct app and initiate the charge and stop the charge at the end. Charging often requires finding the station and the charger name and initiating and completing the charge from the app. It turns out to be a lot more work and potentially more error prone. At home, the Solterra is the same as the Macan.

Also, if you are at Electrify America and one of the stations isn't working, often you can just call EA and they will reset the charger. I charged my Taycan a handful of times while I had it at Electrify America and had to call on at least three different occasions. Takes about 15 minutes, which is a drag, but at least we can get it working for the next person.

Does plug and charge have to be active to use the free year of electrify America? My plug and charge isnā€™t working not working. I tried plugging in today and it went to a paid pricing, not free.

No, you can begin the free charging session through the MyPorsche app on your smart phone.

I am wondering though if Plug & Charge works for any other charging services (like EVGO) or only EA?

Plug & charge is a standard so technically there is no reason it shouldnā€™t, but some setup would be required with the vendor. EVGO has auto charge plus, that supports plug & charge. Here is a link to the Out of Spec video Unfortunately, there are no Porsche vehicles on the compatibility list yet. EVGO auto charge

I'm 2 for 2 with Plug&Charge - but we had to reset PCM and follow all the "known" steps to get Plug&Charge initially setup - but now that P&C is configured - we will have at least 3 charging stops today - plan calls for 3 EA stopsā€¦

YMMV
