Macan EV
Hi Everyone. Picked up my Macan EV 2025 last week after a long saga waiting for this car. Short story, I ordered a 2024 Macan EV back in March. It arrived in September, but the car was never delivered to me due to a series of mishaps at the port and the dealership. I think it's a lemon. Anyway, glad to be in a 2025 with similar specs to what I ordered.

Like many, I have the dreaded "Plug & Charge" toggle that won't work. However, the following things do work:

1. I can activate and charge using the Porsche App at the Electrify America station
2. I can plug the charger in and press "start charge," and it recognizes my car and charges at the Electrify America station

The dealer, Porsche, everyone says everything is set up and looks correct, but the app and car refuse to believe this is the case.

I have reset the car umpteen times. Rebooted. Driven around. Waited for days. Tried everything in every order and read every forum post on this matter and replicated suggested steps to no avail. It just doesn't work at all.

At this point, it bugs me, but honestly, I'm trying not to care since everything "works" even though the car and app don't know I have Plug & Charge.

I also discovered a few things:
1. You can change the name of the car, and the way you do this is in the Bluetooth settings. I called mine "Dark Star" instead of "Macan_EV_092" or whatever the default name is.
2. CarPlay over wireless doesn't work if your car is connected to your home Wi-Fi network.
3. CarPlay setup after a PCM factory reset is very finicky. Many times, it would refuse to work over wireless, but some combination of reboots and resets fixes it, and it then works for a good long time this way.
4. Not sure about the Hotspot and why it's needed for CarPlay, but there is some relationship between these things that I cannot understand. I don't even really get the whole point of the hotspot.

Anyway, hope Porsche fixes the Plug & Charge. Porsche told me to have my dealer open a "trouble ticket," and I'd rather not interface with the dealer if I don't have to.

I'm coming out of a Model Y (and before that a Model 3 and Model S). I will say, the driving experience of the Porsche is next level, but the software is just not good. Tesla is way ahead here.

The only chance to activate P&C is to make a factory reset. If you bring your car back to the dealer he needs to do the same. That's what a technology expert at Porsche told me yesterday on the phone.
A few days ago I was in the same situation and I performed a reset and I can confirm that afterwards the P&C option is no longer grayed out. I was able to activate it and to initiate a download of the certificate. P&C was activated after minutes but some other services needed hours before they worked again. It took a whole night before time and date worked correctly for example. So you also may need to be patient.
Good luck

I have done 8 factory resets at this point. If what you mean by that is resetting the PCM. It has not resolved it for me.

Sorry, maybe I got you wrong. But just to shed some light on it: What needs to be done is to reset the system to factory settings. Afterwards the car appears to be brand-new. All your previous settings are lost. You need to start over with scanning the QR code with your mobile phone and so on. It's not enough to reboot the PCM by pressing the volume button for 30 seconds.
If you have already tried that in vain then there must be something wrong with the car or with your account. In that case I guess you will need some assistance from Porsche.

Hi,

I am having the same issue with Plug & Charge on my Macan 4. I am based in Canada so it looks like this toggle-issue can happen everywhere/anywhere. I reset my PCM twice and followed the instructions here (provided by my dealer) but the toggle stays greyed out. Electrify Canada stations are quite far from where I live but if I happen to be near one I'll try it anyway to see if it works despite the configuration problems.

In the same boat. Multiple factory resets (including the driving around step, getting out of car, toggling charging compatibility, standing on one leg, etc.) and still no P&C. Add to that charging levels and TPMS values being out of sync between vehicle and app, Apple Maps EV routing not working, and a car theft alarm going off at 2:06am last night (silently? It’s still in the garage).

Thank goodness I like the hardware as much as I do. The guy I’m working with at Porsche NA has been great and has promised he won’t ask me to bring the car back to the dealer unless they have a procedure that’s substantially different to try. I’m thinking if it comes to that, I won’t play ball unless they provide a loaner. Tooling around in a 911 might be fair compensation for my beta testing work.

Deciding to not let it bother me too much (I really do love driving it) seems to be the most important step in the process at this point. YMMV

it's the app... the car cannot do anything with PnC on it's on. You have to get the cert in the app and all your efforts should be there...
once you get the cert in the app, it will automactially get transfered to the car. I posted this in another thread.
I had the same issue, and after continuously poking around in the app, i found the right place to download the Cert. Next time i got in the car, PnC was already enabled. I had nothing to do in the car to configure.
as noted, reseting the PCM didn't work for me either.

@omarshahine in the charging part of the app, there's "i" or an "!" for more information after the error messages for PnC, and iirc, the option to get the cert was under one of them.

There is one weird fix that has worked for multiple people. Worth a shot.

Go to your Porsche Connect account. Delete every payment method. Add back one valid payment method. You may have to turn the car on/off and/or reload the app but that worked for me.

While many of us have had issues with P&C, the real issue for me is the time wasted....I had several uneventful charge experiences at EA that after waiting my turn to charge, it failed....so after many attempts and charging at home....I finally got the dealer to resolve with a reset...then after that, they did not advise me to engage the certificate....so hours of my wasted time at EA chargers, a reset at the dealer, and then charging at home on my dime...Porsche has no support or appreciation for their BETA. group...If I had a brand like Porsche I would want to be more supportive, carrying and appreciative of people who bought my product and were having issues....I personally have tried to call Atlanta...they say " we understand" .." we are sorry to hear" ...but no where does Porsche care or try to make you feel supported.

I have a Macan4s. Plug and charge was greyed out and resetting did not work. Took it to the dealer and they reinstalled the software for the PCM and everything worked.

Yes, that is what I meant (not a reboot). Completely wipe the PCM and set up my account again, get the time to sync, etc.

What I find interesting is that resetting the PCM doesn't reset all the car settings. Many of the personalization settings are stored somewhere else, which leads me to believe that there must be some other kind of reset feature.

I have an appointment with the dealer tomorrow, so I will see what they say or do.

That is encouraging to hear. I hope I am so fortunate.

"Factory reset" is not referring to restarting the PCM (long press and hold for 30 seconds on the volume dial).

"Factory reset" is performed as follows:

I also had to do it on my Macan Turbo earlier this week, and it then solved my P&C issue.

@Throb Did you complete these reset steps yourself and you said it worked?

I have done the reset but did not follow these steps exactly as written above (thx for sharing that)!

I've worked on this issue at length with a level 2 support rep from Porsche North America. I've done all the steps (i.e., full system reset, drive around, turn car off, etc.) and I'm still out of luck as far as plug & charge goes. The support rep continues to work on the issue for me and I'll report back when I hear more. He did tell me that there's a lot of fog surrounding this issue. Sometimes the reset process works first try. Sometimes it takes multiple tries. And sometimes (in my case) not at all. Stay tuned...
