I just met with a detailer in Madison,WI for an estimate for my incoming Macan. I have ceramic coated my vehicles for over a decade and see this as as something I will definitely do. A quote for a higher end Modesta coating is $1600. I was also quoted $2400 for front end (including full hood, fenders, etc) Suntek PPF.
I have never done PPF before and am wondering if I should get it given the cost. I am now retired and will only be putting on 3000-4000 miles per year. I plan to buy the car and keep long term but it is always hard for me to predict my car buying behavior. :)
Any thoughts?

Is the Macan going to be collectible?

I wouldn’t call it that. It is a 2025 EV turbo.

I PPF'd and ceramic coated mine, even if this ends up only being a 1-2 year vehicle... For me, there is never a thought about whether it makes finanical sense, because it never does. But now the car is mostly protected so I won't see rock chips or other issues during my ownership. Same thing I do with all my new vehicles though.

I already ceramic coated and placed film on car at tinted the windows 20%. Even with low mileage I want to keep it looking good for
Some time … the ceramic coating. And the film were both $1,600 in PA.

It depends on where you are. I am in Colorado, so always a ā€œyesā€ to PPF. That is a pretty standard price for PPF full front end and is what I am paying for mine. It will help prevent/reduce the chips to the front end from rocks and sand kicked up. I always do it. I like to take care of my cars, even if they are not ā€œcollectibleā€ šŸ˜‰.

I was just commenting on the resale value consideration.

I've seen quite a few PFFs and ceramic coats that detract from the car's looks, but thats just me. I like the native paint with perhaps a little wax. In a hostile sandy environment I think replacing PPF is easier than repainting, however. Is the paint Porsche uses particularly soft?

Every well applied PPF and ceramic application is nearly invisible. I ditto Fleming23’s post above — doing both on not just our special cars but also on our DD. On our DD, I stop the PPF going from the front through the A pillar and the front side of mirrors — and if the rear fender sticks out (a rock-chip magnet) have it done too. 100% of every vehicle we own no matter leased or not is also ceramic coated.

When a vehicle leaves our care, it is handed over looking very close to showroom new — whether kept for two years or ten. Our currently leased iX was treated to both as per above.

Just picked up the car from the detailer, after one week. It's after full Stek brand PPF. The detailer said Stek has good hydrophobic properties, so doesn't need ceramic coating on top.
Cost £3k.

I live in Colorado, and I always do PPF. I just had my new Macon 4 with the Sun tech PPF, full hood, full bumper, all front lights, even the front sensor rectangle. Also quarter fenders, door handle scoops, and a small strip on the rear bumper by the liftgate. $1,700

I was quoted $3500 for PPF on front end up to the mirrors and side blades + ā€œ3 yearā€ ceramic all over + wheels. Seems steep, but I’ll probably do it, as I’m planning to hang on to it longer term. This is the shop - they have excellent reviews, fwiw: https://humblecrewautospatx.com/?

If they are somewhat near to you as you have not used them before, I woul drop by their shop unannounced and look carefully at their install room, e.g., how clean is their floor, what is their air filtration system. A shop that earns their good rep would be happy to show you around, have you close up a vehicle who they just finished or parts of one just completed, for any dust or air borne particles getting between the glue side of the PPF and the paint needs a later ā€œpull off and re-do.ā€ A fussy, ultra clean shop is one you want, e.g., the proverbial though-exaggerated expression of ā€œwould you eat off their floor.ā€

For me was mainly for the peace of mind and trying to keep the car looking as good as possible against ā€˜general’ wear & tear.

As a first-timer (PPF’er) as well, I did a full body (Xpel) and ceramic coat (Xpel Fusion) on top done at showroom prior to delivery.

I opted for Xpel mainly because in Malaysia, there’s a partnership tie-in and if there were any issues, I’d be able to go back to dealer.

Plenty of options out there though - good luck with your decision!

That actually seems very reasonable to me. I got a complete XPEL PPF wrap, plus ceramic coating of the PPF, calipers, wheels, and leather interior. That was $9000. I guess stuff is more expensive in LA.
