PSA: Build lock dates moved up. Check yours!

I heard a rumor and confirmed today that a number of build lock dates were moved sooner.

My 4S lock of 9/30 was moved to 9/27, and my SA didn't even know about it!

If you have an upcoming build lock date, please confirm ASAP!

My dealer has always told me to have build specs buttoned up a month before actual freeze date. There is a lot of variables involved and things can move. My 718 Spyder RS froze 3 weeks early and dates moved.

My freeze date was July 10th but my SA call me end of June to tell me that it was “better” to confirm my build some days before: he looked at their software and it was moved to July the 5th. I think (but it’s my opinion since this is my first Porsche) that it’s “normal”.

is this lock out date something you can track once you have the comm number?

Good advice. Mine moved way up and I was caught off guard. Was iffy about a color but it was too late to change. Now seeing what's out there, I'm Ok with choice.

I have the same issue with not being able to track my order through the app: "The order no. you entered could not be found." Build locked on Sep 23rd (V250). My SA gave me the VIN, and the app recognizes it, but proof of ownership is required for that to work.

According to my SA, my 4S has a fixed for production date (V250) of September 24 and an estimated delivery date in NC of November 22, which is relatively unchanged from the timeframe communicated when the order was placed on August 28.
Hopefully the recent port closures don’t significantly delay everyone’s delivery dates in the Eastern U.S.

If you have VIN try using the web site (and not the mobile app) to record your car in your Porsche ID account. It worked for me with no other documents uploaded.
