After taking a Macan 4 for a spin a few weeks ago, I was able to test drive a Turbo this weekend. Once we were on the highway, I floored it to test the acceleration but I found it to be underwhelming, even though I was in Sport Plus. For reference, I have been driving a Model S P85 and a Model Y LR with boost for a few years. Also, I could feel the accelerator pedal "click" right before it reaches the floor; I did not like that at all. I'm used to the accelerator pedal being very responsive, smooth, and linear. That was not it. I'm wondering if there was something wrong with that particular car because it also had software issues that prevented us from adjusting the drive mode in the UI.

Can Turbo owners please comment on the accelerator pedal feel in their car and the power at highway speeds? Thanks.

Well from standstill it‘s not that much slower then my Model X performance was … from rolling I cannot compare anymore … it could be that it is not that instant … but it surely is not lacking

The Macan Turbo has exceptional pedal feel, far superior to any Tesla I've driven, and the power was more than sufficient for real world use. In fact, I prefer the lower powered 4S.

It's certainly a very different feel from a Tesla, maybe it's not your cup of tea?

I briefly drove the Macan Turbo with my son. My current daily is a MYP with lightweight wheels. Only having tested within city limits (5-40, 20-70mph, repeatedly), the acceleration and thrill of the Macan Turbo (22” wheels, Sport Plus) was next-level and addicting. Coming back to my Tesla, it felt sluggish at speed (75% charge). Actually since that test drive I have been daily charging to 90% on the Tesla to get extra power (not needed on the Porsche’s 800V architecture).

The allure of the Macan for me is way more than its power (comfort, noise- even on 22”, both far superior to my MY on tall 45-profile tires; quality, handling, styling), but a big concern was the power delivery falling short of Tesla. Older Taycan 4S felt slow in stop-and-go. Macan is great.

Out of curiosity, what was the state of charge of the battery?
Low charge could limit performance so maybe that? As others stated, the Turbo has a lot of oomph so your experience is unusual.

What you're describing is what I was expecting before test driving the Macan Turbo. Except that in my case, it was the Macan that felt sluggish and I was happy getting back in my Model Y. There must be something wrong with the particular car that I drove.

I have a '24 M3P highland and have a Macan Turbo on order. I was blown away during my test drive with everything from acceleration to the overall comfort of the cabin, noise level, quality etc... We have had 5 Tesla's (all Performance) and are like kids in a candy store waiting for our Turbo to be delivered.

Does anybody know which dealerships in the S.F. Bay Area have a Macan Turbo available for test drives?

Are you positive it was a Turbo because the 4 would feel slow compared to your Tesla but the Turbo should not at all.

Turbo owner. Figured out flooring it with near empty battery has no ‘oomph’.

I also realized the cars OP mentioned weren't the higher performance Teslas.

I wonder if they put you in a car with almost zero charge? That's a very dealership mistake to do. A Macan Turbo wipes the floor with an S P85 or YLRB.

It's also the only explanation for what you describe as a "click". I believe my Taycan would do something similar, if I tried flooring it sub 10% battery.

Hoping to hear good news back when you try one again!

I have probable watched 20+ Macan turbo reviews on Youtube in the past months and none have them have complained about acceleration. On the contrary, many have said that it is to much for the average driver and that a Macan 4 is plenty of power.
