It sounds like Burmester and Bose are not so good, at least in the Taycan. Considering the huge price difference, less is the better IMO

Even though I live in a mild climate ( not much freezing) I opted out of electric charge port doors mainly because I did not get a good answer on what you do if it does not open. Is there a manual release? Anyway I figure I am at the port location about to plug in so why can’t I just push to pop it open. Seems like it’s another thing that can go wrong but I suppose it’s kind of cool. Anyway after I watched a YouTube reviewer fiddle with it I skipped it.
I definitely understand your perspective and thought almost exactly the same until days before my freeze date.

Also thought it might be a combination of preproduction and/or technique. As Steve Jobs infamously said: ”you’re holding it wrong” … and then Apple fixed the antenna problem.

I closely studied the technique in the owner’s manual and am hoping fot the best. Am also considering assigning one of the diamond buttons to this feature as backup. We’ll see.

Will give the forum an honest review of this decision when I take delivery hopefully in 7 to 10 days. But you will probably have yours sooner as it either already was or soon will be unloaded from Amethyst Ace.

Base is very poor, Bose is really solid, Burm is very nice but unnecessary.

People are very particular about sound systems, some people will claim they're mediocre, others amazing.

But you want Bose. The base Porsche system is very limited. Bose adds a number of speakers, amp, etc.. If you trust me on anything, trust me that you want to spec Bose.

I generally don't think Burm is necessary or worth it, but if you do it make sure to also spec acoustic glass. There's no point getting Burmeister without the acoustic glass, you're just going to lose any improved sound quality.

The manual charge port is not something you ever think about when opening. It’s natural, reliable and very easy.

the only advantage of the powered one is that you do not need to jump back out of the car to close it if you didn’t do it properly when unplugging.

this probably happens around once a month for me but I still wouldn’t have specced powered because I actually like the simple reliability of manual - especially when we travel up into the snow and need to charge. I know I can de-ice and use a little force if needed without worrying.

Power charge port door@ $580 back on our option list:

Back of hand with four fingers easy opening of power charge port door thanks to Thomas@Autogefühl for this video (@ 4:38) and this screen print. He says, “just hold the back of your hand against the door” — and it worked immediately.

He also demonstrated this technique also working just as quickly the first time on the passenger side.

However, always being a touch skeptical, my wife and I are going to try this at our next test drive (prolly late this next week).

I love the geekiness of this, but dubious it will work well.

I don’t need to order mine till mid-2025 so all you guys and girls can share your experiences and I’ll decide later!

Absolutely agree! My first Taycan was equipped with the standard soundsystem. Never ever again!

When you spec macan turbo they only give you the bern upgrade. I am assuming it comes with Bose as standard

You are correct that the Bose is standard with the turbo models, e.g., “BOSE® Surround Sound System with 14 loudspeakers including subwoofer, 14 amplifier channels and a total output of 710 watts. With the BOSE® Centerpoint 360.”

Thank you. I believe i understand. I appreciate your description but having to run my hand across the paint from outside the charge cover, across the cover’s entire width, then onto the paint on its other side, is something I will not do. I am OCD and with even minute surface dust that collects on all its paint from even a short trip, and then my even gently dragging my finger(s) through the dust over the entire cover’s width does not fit into how I maintain my vehicle’s surface. If one could swipe with one’s finger(s) literally hovering above the cover but not touching the paint, that I would gladly do.

As I initially posted, I am still torn whether this option will be part of my purchase plan — for my one fingertip push against a typical spring loaded, one-sided, hinged EV charging port cover (what I have and do now on our iX) is to me a far better choice (as well as using $580 elsewhere).

Of course to each their own.
yeah, the dirt part is a really good point
