I Don't think the centering is adjusted in the new software. It sounds more like a calibration issue of the camera's. A Friend of mine has the new software but also has to get his Macan in to calibrate as his Macan is leaning to the left side a bit. So I would recommend going to the service center if you have those kind of centering issues no matter what software you have.

Lane keep is aligned better since the update. I wonder if there is an adaptation (learned) parameter that was reset by the reboot or cleared by the update.

The only reason I assumed it might be the software update is because I had the cameras recalibrated for this very issue a year ago and it didn’t help (plus the windshield replacement a year ago). And yet, this is just a guess. Elsewhere in the forum someone posted that the centering was better after the update, and one or more others posted it didn’t make a difference. YMMV.

Ok, got the car back from the dealership today after getting the update. Tried out the innodrive on the quick 15 minute drive home had some initial impressions

It seemed to favor the right side only about half the time, and it was pretty neutral the other half of the time. So improvement over what it was previously. Interestingly, it seemed to track the car in front of me more than it did before. Since this was such a short drive, I'm not sure if this is all placebo or not, but it seems promising. I'll try again on my normal commute on monday and see if it's really different.

One thing I noticed which I really liked was that I was able to make corrections with much gentler inputs. It wasn't the full on bicep bulging arm wrestling competition it usually is trying to keep the car where I wanted. I'll pay attention to this on the longer drive as well, but if this is true, it's a huge win in my book.

Now the not so good - the first time I tried to turn on innodrive, I got an error in the dash saying that it could not be activated because the driver's seatbelt was unfastened. I tried unfastening the belt and clicking it back in, but it still wouldn't work. When I put it back in, I felt the pretensioner give its little hug/squeeze, so I know the car was detecting the belt being engaged. I finally just turned the car off, open and closed the door, and turned the car back on and it finally started working again.

On a side note, I did notice a change in how the friction brakes are engaged. I'm so used to lifting just before coming to a stop that the first time I did it the car jerked forwards a bit instead of stopping smoothly like it did before. I'll have to retrain my foot

I made an appointment with my dealer for next week. I planned the appointment back in December to have a slot to do the software update. My car was delivered last November. It’s not running the V28.13 they told me and I have a upcoming trip mid February. Especially getting rid of the “assistant system not working” warnings and the supposably better working air suspension and preheating would be nice on a ski trip.

The dealer contacted me Friday that for my car the software update was not released yet. Any input from you guys? The car is still going into the garage for some minor other stuff like (most annoying) the app planning random departure times on its own and deactivating the ones I created…

...So...let me get this straight...According to dealership your car hasn't version 28.13 software (even though all cars produced post August have it!) and later on they told you there isn't a software update released for your car as of yet?Only reason for a car to not be a candidate for 28.13 update at the moment - and this is the latest one as far as we all know - is to already have it installed right from the factory.According to them you have another software (unknown?) version if not 28.13 but still no update available for your car.Something strange 's going on here... 🤔

Ok, now that I've gotten a chance to take a longer drive, I can confirm some of my earlier observations with innodrive:

  • The car seems to be more centered in the lane now
  • At highway speeds (over 20ish mph at least) It takes steering inputs/corrections much easier with less effort. It also seems to keep the corrections for longer
  • At stop and go speeds, the steering is still heavy, still a constant battle, unfortunately
  • I did notice that the car tracked the car in front of me a couple of times. For example, the car in front of me was driving on the extreme right side of the lane and my car started pulling to the extreme right side of the lane as well before I corrected. Never noticed this happening before

Overall it seems like an improvement to me. It's not a night and day difference, it's pretty subtle and I'm not 100% sure it's not placebo effect, but it does feel better to me.

Unfortunately, since I spend most of my commute in stop and go traffic, I'll probably still have it off most of the time

Your assessment is consistent with mine. The lane keep changes are subtle and does not seem to produce the anxiety the previous version did. The "keep the hands on the wheel" monitoring also seems to be more subtle and not so much in your face.

Beside the smoother brakes, there seems to be other subtle changes that makes the car just "look and feel" better that are hard to define.
