Had a Model S Tesla for close to three years and I now had my Macan EV Turbo for three days after waiting for four weeks while it was at the dealership.

Didn’t get a chance to actually test drive any Macan EV and drove my Turbo first time half an hour before I bought it.

To summarize the car is beyond amazing. Pure quality perfection and luxury to describe my feelings about the car. Breaking the ice and the introduction process between me and my new love is going very nice smooth fun and very enjoying and entertaining.

Bearing in mind both the Model S and the Turbo have same horsepower and neck snapping acceleration. However the feel from the first second is day and night different. The Macan felt like a car it had its (how can I describe it ) freedoms. The Tesla had what I felt kind of a block feel to it. A big heavy cube that is very very fast like a fast go cart. The Macan felt again like a car. I like the lag in the pedal when I step on it. I love that rear thrust like somebody pushing their foot in your back while you have your neck snapped when you push hard on the pedal. I love how when you push the pedal hard the the back thrust makes you feel the front of the car is about to take off. It even makes you feel you are about to drift since I have the standard 20’ that seem to not be able to keep the traction because of how fast the car accelerates.

fit and finish is beyond amazing. Even its technology felt more luxurious and classy! Compared to the Tesla. Yes it has a much smaller central screen but everything on it is fast and you can find anything you want. You can download whatever music apps you want. I have been using the cars infotainment and navigation and not much car play and I am starting to like it. The AI HUD takes some getting used to but once you position it properly height wise and lower its brightness it becomes enjoyable.
I felt the effect of the rear steering thing from the first second. It is amazing.

Now comes the part I was so concerned about that I will miss the fsd. Honestly that might be the only thing the Tesla can score couple points over the Macan. The Macans active lane keeping and cruise control provide what I need and I don’t think it should be an issue like I was afraid it might be.

The Porsche Electric Sport Sound is fun however I don’t keep it on all the time.

That’s it for now more to come !!!

I like the lag in the pedal when I step on it.
Congrats on your new Turbo and thanks for the review! I too previously drove a Model S as well as a Model Y.

Just out of curiosity, why do you like pedal lag? One of the features I loved about the Tesla was instant acceleration which was quite useful in many situations.

again even though both cars have similar horsepower and acceleration the difference in the drive is huge. The Porsche even though all electric the fact it behaves like a car when idling or the fact there is regen and that you can easily make the car creep slowly to the front simply letting go of the brakes. The lag I meant is not in the acceleration the instant torque is there especially with the turbo. However the lag is that you need to press the pedal further for it to take of. It is a calibration of the foot. Once you get used to it is becomes the same. It is just that it won’t be like go cart thing it is more like a normal sports car.

Got it — that makes sense. Hopefully I have similar instant torque in the 4S I ordered as well.

Congrats! I also like the pedal feel, it almost feels like the car has a turbo that is spooling up. Anyone one else think so?

I have very similar feelings in moving from my Tesla Model S to my Macan Turbo.

The other thing I would add is it actually feels wonderful to press on a brake pedal and actually feel like the car has brakes that work!! The brakes in the Tesla were absolute garbage and you always wondered whether they would actually stop the car when forced to use them rather than just lifting your foot of the accelerator pedal (one foot driving).
