My turbo spoiler is confusing me. According to manual and what I have been reading it should automatically come up and down depending on speed of vehicle. The manual option of having it up is supposedly just to clean under it a guy online once mentioned.
However when I had it up for cleaning I noticed that it went up and down based on speed and stayed up when car is off. I turned it down I noticed it one time going up when I sped suddenly.
However on normal driving on the highway I didn’t realize it going up and down on high speed even though on high speed the car goes to lower height even on normal.

This is what the manual says but does not provide full logic under what speeds it extends or retracts in Range, Sport, Sport+ or Launch Control modes.

For example, this is spoiler logic for Taycan that is much more complicated since it has 3 height levels when extended.

Mine absolutely does not automatically go up or down. I typically drive on the freeway at 80mph+ in sports mode and never noticed it going up automatically, I always have to activate it using the screen.

Now one thing I can say. When I was at the dealership last weekend and they wanted to clean it their detail guy took it up and left it up without me noticing. I think to clean under it. Now when I drove it home I realized it going up and down automatically based on speed. Then when I parked and stepped out I found it up and took it down manually.
so I think we can based on this assume if we manually put it up using the screen then it goes up and then based on speed goes up and down.
when we have down in the screen it won’t do that.
however at one instance when car was on normal and the spoiler was at down setting and I stepped on it to show off acceleration and maneuvered sportily a bit it did start coming up and down based on speed for the rest of the drive. But haven’t done it again

I just know that in the Taycan when the spoiler extends automatically, there is no indication that it has been extended in the screens (exception is Range mode), if you are going by that, and not actually visually confirming that it has been extended. There is no way to visually confirm if it is extended or not, in the Taycan, from the driver seat when driving.

My Macan 4’s spoiler. When the car is going over 35 mph, the spoiler automatically pops out, not much though. I double-checked with my rear passenger. At speeds above 100 mph (Mexico), you can definitely see the spoiler extending through the rearview mirror. I haven’t tried extending it manually yet, though.

I agree there seems to be multiple setting for it

I have the same doubts: I see the spoiler working in Sport+ but at higher speed than the ones indicated in the manual. In normal it should work and in Sport I have never seen it in the higher position.

I think I figured it out. By paying close attention through the rear mirror I noticed when the manual button is on the lowered setting it goes up slightly automatically on speeds above 35 mph and when pressed on hard it goes up further. So clearly two automatic settings
Slight one on speeds above 35 mph
Significant one when pressed hard.
I think when we have the manual button up it does those two automatic raises starting from the raised position.

When I raise the spoiler manually on our turbo, it stays up when parked, possibly in different positions, until the turbo is driven over 75 mph and then the spoiler retracts when parked. You need to drive faster!

@fsabek in which mode were you (Normal or Sport)?
Normal. Diego you need to pay very close attention to the rear mirror. Only maybe an inch or two would show when it comes up above 35. I don’t think it is drive mode related. The conclusions I reached were on normal mode. I don’t know if the automization of the spoiler changes in sport modes. The owners manual should have been better explaining that and not leave it to us to figure it out.

And, even if my german it's worse, it depends also if you have the Panorama Roof open or not.
Just to recap it depends on:
  • driving MODE
  • speed
  • panorama roof status
and it has 2 levels:
  • "Eco" (that should be just a little up)
  • "Performance" (fully opened)
@grizzler any other info in the German text? ;)

Another confusing part for me is that PAA (Porsche Active Aerodynamic) is only active if you opt for Sport Chrono Pack. I don't have the pack but I see the spoiler engaging even when driving slowly like under 20km...
