Same..but you would lose some butt cushioning in order to get the message function (I am told). I tried both and the 18 way was just more comfortable to sit in so happy I went with them.
No massage in butt area unlike X5. Not missed, seat bottom is similar 14 and 18 way, just no movable side bolsters. I'm not tracking a 5K lb suv so not missing the hip grip. Now the coming Boxster is a different story.

I think it was the size of the seat and back bolsters that made them feel better. Had they had a 14 way with massage I could have tried that function but i only had a static 14 vs 18 way comparison to go by. If there is no butt surface modification then I was misled by the SA but he did mention that very few cars they sold have even had the feature so I suppose he just didn’t know. Still ok with the 18 way regardless but I agree that if the 18 way had massage I would have opted for it. I just love the premium feel of the larger bolsters.

The 18 way seats are super (and almost surprisingly) comfortable to BOTH me and my wife on both around town and very long road trips. For me, the I really noticed after a few days that that specifically the side and seat bolsters (in addition to the seating position, seat extended and near infinite adjustments, of course) are actually a big part of that comfort. I would definitely reorder them.

I had specced a 4S with ruby red and truffle and Avenura green and truffle interior and was leaning with the green as I worry red and truffle is too much. Glad you like the green (I'll probably go that route). Thanks for the ics and sharing.
love the aventurine green. in retrospect, very well described in the configurator: “Aventurine Green Metallic is a warm, not too bright, metallic Green option with an elegant yet sporty appeal to it.”

Great feedback, great spec. Now I regret not doing Turbonite on my RS22's. Yours look great. Oh well, good reason to look forward to the next one. Congrats.
Thanks, love these rims. To the next one!

How’s the ride quality on the 22” rims? I agree those are the best looking wheels, but wondered about the harshness of the ride.
Great spec. Gorgeous car. Congrats
Thank you @henrus!
Both the Macon 4 (2 of them actually) that I test drove before I placed my order AND my Turbo have 22 inch rims and air suspension, so I’m not sure I have a lot to compare it to with the 20s or 21s. What I can tell you is the ride is firm and sporty in normal mode but still extremely comfortable and pretty supple on the 22”s with air (std in the states). Tightens up in Sport. I am very pleased with the ride and would select them again for sure.

…really nice on the road trips at speed …but you do hear the tires a bit. I did not order acoustic glass on the advice of my very good and experienced SA - due to muting of phone and garage signals - and at the time there it would have possibly delayed my order, but I do wonder about that one from time to time for that reason. Otherwise car is very quiet. Again, I am happy but just wonder occasionally and some folks swear by the glass - others say no.

Nice build. I actually wanted to switch to Aventurine green but my build locked.

Wait you did 1,250 already? Im 41.5 hours, 3 or 4 weeks in and I am at 999. Wish I had the time to drive more.
Thanks @alvaro!
Yep, 1,250 plus - one massive road trip from DC to Charlotte and back did it! She’s a great road warrior, by the way. Especially with ACC/ALK/Innodrive & the HUD (and fast charging)!

All right, the first forum post & mini review from a daily reader and Turbo Macan owner. Here’s my build and photos of this beautiful machine I have had for just over a week!

Here’s my build

My thoughts (sorry for the long post):

Summary:

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!

This is just a really an exceptionally well thought out and executed car. This is a road car, a sports car, and just happens to be super practical. I have really enjoyed it and I have had no regrets, complaints or issues in my eight days and 1,200+ miles since delivery (including around town and a quick 800 mile road trip to Charlotte NC and back to the DMV).

I hope my reflections are helpful to other owners, owners to be, and folks considering the model on the forum. I have read this forum daily since first considering the Macan EV (and the Taycan before this), in making my option and model selections, in learning about the car and delivery process, in increasing my excitement, and in adjusting my expectations - it has been invaluable: Thanks everyone!

Things I Absolutely Love:

  • This car all around!!
  • Turbo power
  • Turbo aggression in styling and stance
  • Planted nature of this car - a beast
  • Aventurine Green + gloss black
  • 22” RS Spyder Design wheels in Turbonite (absolutely makes the car)
  • Truffle brown interior with Neodyme and Summerwood (stressed on this, super luxurious and classy)
  • It’s a completely different car in Normal and Sport modes
  • Heads up display
  • Apple CarPlay integration (including the HUD)
  • The Bose sound system - it’s fantastic
  • Home charging experience (I use ChargePoint Plus)
  • The elegant cooled and closed charging compartment for my iPhone - brilliant!
  • Center console (volume button, recessed cupholders, grab bars - you’ll need them)!
  • Smoothness of the ride and tightness of the build of this car in normal
  • Pre climate feature so my interior is perfect when I step into it
  • The 18 way seats: super, super comfortable for both me and my wife and amazing seat positioning
  • Interior build quality and look: I was concerned about the level of black plastics used inside the build. The Turbo version eliminates that and classes it up on the car’s exterior. On the interior, because of the ‘somewhat elegant’ flat black nature of the material - it actually pairs really nicely with the beautiful Truffle brown Club leather. It’s grown on me quite a bit.

I Really Like:

  • The Porsche 100% driver focused cockpit feel
  • The entire PCM experience: snappy; intuitive; great integrated tech.
  • The physical access in and out (best of both worlds - sports car driving experience, easy ride height access)
  • Convenience of charging ports on both sides + in the rear!
  • Steering wheel heating - nice!
  • Active Lane Keep/Active Cruise Control !!
  • Bypassing gas stations
  • Plug and charge at Electrify America was flawless and fast each time on my road trip (and I got up to 279 kW on the 350 kW charger!)
  • The ride quality and in-cabin experience: my wife without fail falls asleep smiling each time we set off for a drive with the Bose playing - - interrupted only to hear her say “whoa” (in a good way), when I decide to play with the cars acceleration or cornering in ‘routine’ Porsche driving!
  • Black roof rails - extremely subtle and adds a great locationally balanced additional black accent to my Aventurine/gloss black build.
  • Turbo and Electric Badges in Turbonite to pickup on the Turbonite rims (in small quantities looks stunning on Aventurine)
  • Turbonite Porsche badge on the hood - very classy.
  • The Frunk!

I Don’t Love:

  • The EV sound (Not the optional sports sound, which I like and can shut off) that the car makes under [25 mph], likely as a pedestrian safety alert. I wish I could shut it off completely!
  • Tire noise at speed (but worth the trade-off to have the RS Spyder Design wheels!!!)
  • The price (but it’s sooo worth it right now)
  • Backseat is a bit tight for me, behind myself - but my wife says it’s comfortable (we are 6’1” & 5’6” respectively). Very much feels like a “personal” car (for me in a very good way).
  • The fact that I repeatedly forget and leave my phone in the elegant phone charger when I leave my car
  • Range/consumption: 2.5 mi/kWh average total so far. But for ME, so far the modest range of the Turbo Macan EV has not been an issue (though I check it religiously as a bit of scoreboard watching). I’m able to do everything I want to do around town and on my road trip without feeling compromised.
  • The directions from the Porsche onboard route planner. Neither intuitive nor particularly easy to follow (but excellent for trip planning and chargers). Apple Maps in town.
  • The two usb ports under the center console - Impossible to see & get to!

Don’t Use/Don’t Know:

  • Back seat heating/cooling

I Don’t Miss:

  • Rear wheel steering (car is super nimble and turn circle already very tight). Possible I just don’t know what I’m missing, but glad I shifted the option elsewhere.
  • Turbonite interior accents (stressed over this as many of these drop with the truffle interior)
  • Black headlights
  • Power charging port cap
  • Upgraded Burmeister stereo
  • Optional Passenger screen

Challenges/Bugs:

  • HUD disappeared completely one leg of my road trip. Resumed after next charge.
  • Still trying to get my ChargePoint plus to begin charging immediately (the first time I plug it in at home). I must be doing something wrong as I otherwise love it.

My Big Post/Pre delivery anxieties:

  1. Aventurine Green. This color is really stunning and changes in differing lights. - however, I didn’t absolutely love it on the Macan 4 I saw in the showroom pre-lock. The 4’s flat black plastic pieces mute the color a bit imho, but Wow it pops on the turbo with gloss black contrasts.
  2. Truffle brown club interior. This interior is gorgeous, but before my reveal, I didn’t know if it would be too much brown, the wrong tone of brown, reflect on the windshield, and pair well with the black leather steering wheel, etc. Combined with the Summerwood trim and Neodyme accents, it’s really warm and elegant and absolutely a favorite. Definitely premium and beautiful.
  3. Black roof rails. Actually adds to the aggressive stance and width of the Turbo model.

Love them all, had absolutely no need for second guessing - perfect!!

That’s it for now. Love to hear your thoughts or reactions on my build, experiences or views!

Great spec and write-up!

1. My wife and I keep forgetting the phone when it's in the charging compartment!

2. At home ChargePoint HomeFlex Level 2 charger - since day 1 it would never charge when I plug it in. I have to plug it in, wait few seconds, unplug, plug in again and it works. No idea what is wrong. I used the same charged on my Taycan, no issues.

@mieciu So I have the EXACT same issue with my Macan Turbo and the ChargePoint HomeFlex Level 2 Charger (which otherwise is flawless):

Plug it in, nothing, wait a few seconds, unplug and plug it back in, charger clicks, and bingo - it works (green communication lights) and charging underway! Miesciu, wondering if you have now found a fix or if others share this problem with the ChargePoint and Macan EV?

For some reason last night it oddly worked the very first time I plugged it in with nothing measurably different that I can determine. I may try to start a separate thread inquiry to the forum if the challenges persists…

I forget the phone as well, my charge point flex seems to work correctly when I plug it in if I am in my scheduled off-peak time, or disable schedule. I just check my c.p. app and my porsche app to make sure the electrons are flowing. I've forgotten to check once or twice though and and after chariging then I get a notification that c.p. is not drawing and I'm likely charged.

Dunno if related, I had a similar problem with a couple smart chargers years ago. Some of these wifi enabled smart EVSEs seem to need "authentication" from the mother ship before charging. Once I turned them into dumb EVSEs by disabling their wifi, I've not had an issue.

@mieciu So I have the EXACT same issue with my Macan Turbo and the ChargePoint HomeFlex Level 2 Charger (which otherwise is flawless):
I have 2 ChargePoint HomeFlex EVSE's (2 homes). I have not had problems with either (so far!); both are connected to WiFi (although one of them randomly disconnects from WiFi from time to time; different issue). I usually just plug in and charge; I used scheduled charging (from the Porsche app) once, and it also worked.
