There are plenty of aftermarket vinyl covers for that. I covered mine with a cover with Porsche text.

So I had some gloss black Porsche stickers made up to cover the placard. Here is the before and after. Improvement I would say. I had to order 25 of these but only used 2 so if anyone wants a few let me know. Just cover postage and their yours. These cover the Canadian placard so different countries may have different size placards. 13 cm long X 8 cm wide. Can also get it in a Matt finish.
