Good one.
Electric Bogan, so-called “Viking” exposed. His misleading sweeping statements, in most videos, his misinformation, and hyperbole. 😆

It's Kris Rifa's video, not Viking's :)
My reason for posting this was because it was about Porsche and how this Viking spreads misinformation.

Both are seeking clicks and echo chambers like this serves their purpose very well. Kris ranting that the Macan is not as premium as the Taycan is really getting long in the tooth … and Viking only looking for negative info on EU cars is just so he hopes he finally will earn some money with the Chinese car stocks he hold … It’s a shame as they both bring sometimes bring worth while news, but the trash talk is getting more and more in the way. So for me Batterylife1 and TeslaBjorn are getting more views from me …

They are, I was just in China and checked out some of the cars they have. I would 100% have gone with the $60k Huawei SUV over the Macan EV (which I do love btw) if it were available here. The features are unmatched and it is even more luxurious.

I literally fell over laughing as soon as I saw "Porsche's Survival Probability".

Let's be serious here. There are real questions as to how much Porsche continues to invest in EVs. There are exactly zero questions as to Porsches continued existence.

if anything , porsche's issues have almost nothing to do with EV's... These content creators and some of these news outlets just want to get clicks off anything they can...

I would argue that the survival probability and acquisition probability of the majority of Chinese EV brands are significantly lower and higher, respectively, than those of Porsche.

There are quite a few Chinese EV brands that have already tanked, others aren’t paying their employees, and all of them are heavily subsidized.

Porsche’s profits may be declining but they aren’t hemorrhaging money. As long as customers value their products, the business is sustainable.

Are you saying this based on a driving experience or a car show review/viewing? I doubt that any of these cars match the Porsche on driving dynamics. I watched the available reviews of the Huawei 7 and 9 and while the interior looks more premium than a Tesla they still stick the touch screen on the dash like Tesla and the ergonomics looks to be the same....which honestly makes me cringe.

That said, I would agree that these would likely be Tesla Model Y competitors especially as they are similarly priced but look to be more lux inside. I dumped my Tesla because I was willing to pay extra for a car designed for the driver not for a touch screen operator. I wanted a car to drive like they designed it with me there and not for strait line 0 - 60 speed. Since I have not driven a Huawei I cannot go beyond speculation but if they do not have 2 stage air suspension or rear axle steering as options then they are not close to being a match and its a no-go out of the gate because I know you will be getting Tesla ride and handling quality at best and that is not what I would be looking for.

On the ascetic side, the SUV looks like most others with non interesting design cues - box like with rounded edges. The Macan looks much better than any of those designs (not just Chinese but I am including the new Jeep, Gravity or Equinox).

So you get what you pay for and it’s no different for any of these new brands coming out so I don't think you are getting a Macan for 1/2 the price. You’re getting a Model Y at a better price and interior. The Jury is out if these will drive a good as the Juniper (Model Y refresh) and if so they will have quite a good competitive edge at that price in china or wherever available.

Have given them a test drive before settling down for a Macan… think it’s more a Tesla/Genesis competitor than anything else.

Their vehicles in general tend to appear plush like Genesis, so in a way it’s much better than Tesla if software isn’t priority. Quality of materials and build are a few grades below Porsche, which is reflected by the price point but it does cover most of the plastics and seem decently built i.e. better than Tesla. Drive quality however is where they tend to lose out massively to a Porsche but is still comparable to something like a Tesla Model Y/3 with “improved” suspension. So apart from software and after sales servicing, it’s super competitive and appeals to the budget conscious. Porsche (obviously) remains a value proposition to me, but would say they can’t stretch it much further… so reduced profits / margins is probably the new norm for the company unless something changes

No, I never got to drive it, just sat in it and played around a bit. I did like the interior more than my Macan and as the Macan is mainly a family car I would have gone cheaper and gotten the Huawei if available and just given to my wife. I do agree the Porsche is really fun to drive and most likely drives a lot better, but nearly double the price better? I dunno.

I see your point. I’m curious which part of the interior did you like better?

The seats were softer/more comfortable, the UI was a lot snappier and customizable, also the one thing that really blew me away was the front passenger seat folded down completely to form a bed/leg support so when you sat in the back seat it was like sitting in a business class lie flat seat. You can see it in this video here around at 9min.

eta: The video also reminded me of some of the features I forgot about that made me think this was nicer than my Porsche, the fridge in the back, and the projector that can come down for the rear passengers. Like I said, as a driver I would definitely prefer the Porsche, but as a passanger the Huawei was much more functional and lux.

I sat in a Zeekr 001, and for the price, the quality was overwhelming: not a single piece of hard plastic. Ok, all is fake leather, but it looks very good in a brand new car!
I don’t understand why Porsche puts hard plastics in its cars…
