Air suspension yes or no for €2700?
Has anyone tried the Macan with and without it?

I think most here would say ‘yes’ - I went for this and the rear axle steering as well more from the performance handling aspect.

Although it depends on your build and whether you think necessary. This is my first (gateway) Porsche so I just wanted to be able to spec a vehicle I would be happy with.

Having said that, probably one more (expensive) replacement should it require replacing (over the default springs), but you only live once I guess…

Doubt anyone here could compare both, first cars are just arriving and most dealerships don’t have one car for test drives - let alone 2 with different suspensions.

No idea if it’s worth it but coming from a Model 3, I just don’t want springs anymore 😅. Few videos on YouTube mention that the air suspension is firm even on comfort mode, so I would imagine that the spring is even worst. Some YouTubers were arguing that a BMW Xi was more comfort for less $.

Definitely yes. Drove Volvo before with and without. Took it again now because you just float over the road. Luxurious ride :D

It's standard on North America Macans, but my vote is absolutely YES! Adjusting the Chassis dynamics and Hugely appreciate the ability to lower and raise the vehicle. You can lower it for a more aggressive stance and raise it for clearance all at the rotation of your mode switch on the steering wheel. Great for cleaning as well. You also can lower and raise from the rear via an interior rear cargo switch for ease of loading purposes or for the trailer hitch if ordered.

Mine is scraping getting into garage in lift mode activated. Have to use off road lift ii, but doesn’t save so have to go through levels to get in garage. Where is switch in cargo area? Got off road facia. Base macan and boxster don’t scrap. Any suggestion.? Tech support couldn’t help

Just turn the drive mode knob? The quickest way to turn it To off road mode?

Off course Yes , after having owned 2 Macan and 1 Taycan

Moreover, it is one of the few options at a reasonable price , IMHO ....

I can’t compare macan with and without, but I can compare Macan without (but with PASM - so steel springs with PASM option) vs my previous Taycan 4 CT with air suspension and PASM.

Out of these two I prefer the Macan steel springs and PASM, without air, no joke. It’s very forgiving and smooth in Normal mode, yet firm in road bends (no swaying), and it’s super precise in Sport Plus.

On the Taycan neither Normal nor Sport Plus stood out for me, with Sport Plus being as if you’re going to bottom out on any road bumps, and normal being just mediocre but not overly comfy. The only real advantage it had is lift mode to get into garages and do a u-turn over tram rails 😅, but Macan does this with ease in any setting anyway

Does anyone have any experience with air suspension over speed bumps with low speed?
I hear some cracking noise when going over speed bumps and was wondering if that's expected.
Otherwise it's dead silent.

Hope the new Macan gets the active Ride Suspension similar to the Cayenne - in this case the Air Suspension is a „Must have“. (Ordered Air Suspension for my Macan S).

Definitely NO. In the USA we have no choice and must have air. Without exception every air suspension I've had in every car from MB, Audi, Porsche, has needed service inside the first 3 years. Whether leaks, compressor running too much, noisy compressor, uneven fill, they eventually need attention. My last Macan GTS the compressor was running constantly and the holding tank had to be replaced. My current GTS the compressor motor was extremely loud and needed service. Smooth ride? To some degree, but I'd trade the slight difference in comfort for a set of springs that never need service. Porsche makes a good suspension.

Macan EV I've already heard report of air suspension knocking, creaking, or "cracking sound over bumps" in this and other forums. An air suspension isn't simple. It's dozens of parts including compressor motors, leveling sensors, actuators, air holding tanks, servos, bladders, etc...

It will fail...either during your ownership period or the next owners period.

I’ve owned a Taycan saloon but now drive a CT both on air. Been having a few drives of my wife’s new macan 4 EV for 4 weeks on steel with PASM. I switch driving between them both.

Driving on UK pothole filled roads there’s not much to notice between them except the adjustable ride height. She had an ICE macan on steel and the EV is way smoother and refined. I like the macan ride and it feels less firm in the city than the Taycan. (Probably more tyre size with CT on the 21 off-road and the macan on 21 turbo style but way more rubber).

I’d have liked to tick the air suspension but chose PASM as a compromise to keep the budget lower and its only used as a family car to go shopping and ferry my daughters about.

If I’d specced 22 wheels I’d tick the air suspension box to try and help with the ride. I think the wheel and tyre size has as much to do with ride as air vs springs.

Test drove a Macan 4 on steel followed by a Turbo on air. Air was streets more comfortable on poor UK roads. No contest.
Also the abilty to adjust ride height would be worth it for that alone
