I think a lot of you fellas on this forum have grown soft with all this tech in the cars. When I’m driving I’m fully involved, meaning I turn on and off my high beams, I turn my head when in reverse, I fully control the climate settings, never auto, including having the ac off most of the time to save energy (turn it on once a month to refresh the seals), and I can parallel park perfectly without help from the car.

Headlight matrix technology is now allowed in the US. This was passed recently and we can expect Porsche to turn it on with a software update for those that have selected the option.

As been discussed elsewhere, Porsche's LEDs do not comply with the US standards that were passed. There is no software only compliant upgrade. I would not count on Porche offering a retrofit option as both hardware and software as well as certification for the model year would be required. I would not count on a retrofit if it was only software. A third party programer may be able to update the software for off road use.

There may be a $$$$ offering that replaces both the headlight housings and updtaes software, but dunno if there would be a market for it.

Maybe. The US requirements are a lot different from EU requirements (distance, brightness, and response time). That's why none of the manufacturers have turned it on so far, because it's so different and it requires certification for the uS.

FYI - The gen 2 Rivian comes enabled with matrix ability. Just need to get these other manufacturers to go through the approval process.

Its not that simple. There are matrix headlights that do comply with the US standards that are to be certified at some point. The US standard is much different/more stringent as far as hardware, let alone software specs. Macan matrix lights are not hardware compliant. There is specs on individual LEDs and some other details that don't match up well. Perhaps Porsche can get a waver, but they have a lot on their plate elsewhere. There is a thread around here somewhere, or maybe it was rennlist.

Porsche will offer US compliant matrix headlights at some point in the future, it is unlikely they will offer a retrofit short of trading for a new car :)

what do you mean with ''turning the head on reverse''??????? Is it allowed ? it's written on the internet you can do this, where? It's on Porsche's manual, where can i scroll this on my curved multitouch 99 K head up, pop up, porn hub display???

I really dunno.... now as you've elected Trump again and as it looks like that more duties will be issued Porsche will upgrade the lights with the new laser candle beam, I suggest to invest in matches and wax.
