Hi everyone,
I have a 6 year old Tesla Model 3 Performance and I am planning on selling it and buying a 25 Macan 4S. I am new to Porsche and am hoping you can help me with a couple of important questions:

I understand the 25 is in short supply and I need to order my Macan at my local dealership. How is the sales price determined? Do most dealerships sell you an ordered Macan at MSRP? Are dealerships charging added markup above MSRP? Are any socal dealerships offering any kind of discount (I am guessing no, but thought I would ask anyway)?

Also, have the software bugs been worked out since the car was introduced in 2024, or should I wait another year to allow for further debugging before I purchase one?

Thank you,
Joe

You could get a tiny discount on a 4 in SoCal. Maybe 1.5 or 2%. No discounts anywhere on a Turbo or 4S. Do not pay anything above MSRP.

Plenty of people still haven't received their cars because of the software issues, so it's certainly not worked out yet. I'd also advise a Porsche EV is probably always going to be on the finicky side of things. Worth it, imo, but certainly has issues.

You can build your car at MSRP on Porsche website. Then send it to your preferred Porsche dealership to place an order. After building your car like that, a list of dealers shows up.

So, there is no added markup above MSRP. But no doubt dealers get a nice commission. At that point, you can negotiate a discount. Most of us never got any, me neither.

MacanEV Turbo on order

I built my Turbo at my local dealership in end of Oct for a Feb delivery. They would not really move on the cost of the car but I did get them to do a no-charge tire and wheel package as well as maintenance for 3 years (including brakes). EV's have minimal maintenance but brakes can be expensive.

i got mine to throw in Rear Wheel steering for free. It seems like trying to get options works better than trying to get them to come off the price...

This sounds like and amazing deal as I have not heard of anyone giving away wheel/tire and maintenance packages away as they are expensive. For example, 20k/40k/60k Taycan maintenance package has been quoted at $4,675 and I paid $2,500 for a wheel and tire package.

I guess it would not matter if your 3-year maintenance is thrown in, but I would check the details of what is covered at miles and years since there is no such a thing as a 3-year maintenance check point. I do not know Macan EV maintenance schedule, but this is what it looks like for a Taycan (below) to point out that brake pads are not due to be changed until a 6-year time point, so I will be curious to know how are you getting your brake work included in a 3-year maintenance package?

20k miles / 2 years: Short Checklist, Brake Fluid Flush, Cabin Filter.
40k miles / 4 years: Longer Checklist, Brake Fluid Flush, Cabin Filter.
60k miles / 6 years: Short Checklist, Brake Fluid Flush, Cabin Filter, Brake Pads only at 6 years.

The maintenance appears to be "minimal" but the dealerships need to make money one way or another, so expect to see very high hourly rates to complete these maintenance items and then others that are not on the list. Cabin Filter, Wiper Blades, and Remote Batteries can be easily done DYI so I would learn how to do it yourself.

No real discount but got free all weather floor mats and trunk liner and tons of swag. They did want me to pick over 10k in options which I would have done anyway. No mark up over MRSP.

You can review the forum for software issues and determine your own tolerance level. I am ok with the one install error I got but others had more surprises. The car blows Tesla out of the water on fit and finish and performance. I can confirm that after 4years of Tesla ownership. It is the holy grail of EVs and I met plenty of competitors on my journey..it ticks all of my boxes and then some …that is my opinion of course. Porsche does need to catch up with Tesla on software OTA capabilities but I am hoping they do over time. Right now if you have an issue you to take it in. That part is not fun if I am being honest. I suspect most dealers have a demo car you can test drive, which is more than most of us got when we ordered.
I recommend rear axle steering and air suspension if it is not already standard where you are ( pretty sure it’s standard on the S ).

Bought my 2024 Macan 4 from socal last month with 2500 below MSRP. So far, no issues with the software after factory reset.
Wow,
How did you manage to get 2500 below MSRP?

You can get a small discount on the Macan 4 in the US. People here really want the 4S or Turbo and a lot of California dealerships had extra 4 allocations.

2025 is exactly the same as 2024…
This isn't actually correct. US model MY25 cars have a number of options standard that MY24 did not. Don't know for other markets.

An exactly identical US MY24 spec car will go for thousands less than it's MY25 twin 2 years from now on resale. By taking a MY24 car you're losing residual value.
