Has anyone else received this error message while trying to charge. This happens almost every time I charge using electrify America. Works fine on level 2 charges but seems to happen at EA or Porsche chargers.

Yes. This is related to having power charge port doors as far as I know. I saw the message when I stopped at an Electrify America recently and did not get the connector plugged in before the timeout period. The door started to close and encountered the connector before it was plugged in. Interestingly the connector was not that close to the door at the time.

After completing the charge and the door shutting successfully, the error cleared and all has been well since.

I saw this one previous time at a charging station but not at home as I am usually get it plugged in well before the timeout.

This is one of the reasons my dealer steered me away from getting the power charge port door as an option…

Yes, it happened to me once. My charge port door is manual. I ignore it, fortunately, came back no more.

Likewise, same here.
And I'm glad I listened to him, even though I like electric charge door - looks cute :)

Yes. The power charge port door is fun and (so far) works well. I totally respect the arguments against it though. I blame my friend with a Tesla who said his was standard 😋

Another benefit for me, I can tuck the charge cable on the port door, as I often charge at these street poles ;)

I'm really not sure adding the cable weight on the door/hinge is a good idea...
Kind of makes me think of people that put their coffee cup in their CD tray.

It's not because one can do something that they should. ;)

Done it many times now, charge port door is strong, and the wight of the cable, to the extent I have put on the door, is not heavy.
Better than getting it muddy, especially in the rain ;)

People still use CDs?
If not, then using it as cupholder is a good use 😜

Definitely don't try that in a fast DC charger 😅 I'd personally be concerned this is going to slowly introduce play between the parts, eventually leading to the charge door becoming loose.

Do you think I care whether DC charger cable gets dirty or not?
I don't have to put that one back in my car after use, do I? :)

Anyway, I don't think many here have used this cable for AC charging, like I do on street poles, as most appear to have home chargers.
Just to let you know, this Porsche cable is much lighter than the one I had for BMW i4. Just my 2 cents here with personal experience of using these cables.

I made my final decision based on avoiding having the door in the cable path. Since the power door disappears, this is not an issue for me. On the other hand, a dead 12V could be. Perhaps another reason to leave the car plugged in when in doubt.

Our Solterra has a manual charge port door so we experience both. It is possible to put strain on the charge port door if the door is in the cable path as I've experienced with the Solterra.
