@daveo4EV , some of the things you mention as "new" have been present on the non-AR HUD of the Taycan, such as navigation information (actually more detailed than PCM on my Taycan). I don't remember if lane selection shows up, but 75% it does (my Taycan decided it wanted to spend the holidays with other down on their luck Porsches in the service bay, so cannot check).

I've noticed two more AR handy extra's:

The HUD shows a green line under the car that it has tracked. So if you're driving in a right lane and you are approaching a car on the left lane, the green line will change from the car directly in font of you to the one left. In ACC it will keep the set distance to this car. If you touch the 'gas' pedal, it will change to the car in front of you again and will accelerate (if this car is further away).

When you are approaching your set destination, you will see a small finish flag that will become closer (bigger) when you actually arrive.

Hey guys, I noticed that my headup is slightly off center (to the left) and a bit tilted. Is this normal or should the speed be viewed exactly centered on the road? How about the tilt to the left? My inner monk is going crazy 😝

One more thing that I like about it. I wear glasses to drive and actually have a bi-focal so I can see distance over the top and reading distance on the bottom...for my 911 its perfect. I can see outside clearly and can read all the instruments with a simple glance. While this still works in the Macan, the shape of the dash and size of the screen makes it a little hard to always get a clear view. Center screen is the worst. With the HUD, the virtual focal point is something like 30ft away so the data is always in sharp focus and I don't have to take my eyes off the road. I like it a lot more that I thought I would. The nav arrows and speed limits signs are useful.

One thing I can't figure out, I'd like the lane warnings to show up but not have the auto-steering function happening. Is that possible??

from the pic this normal -I want a "left to right" adjustment so I could center it in the lane…mine is in the same postion

It’s a nifty feature for sure!

Other than the price (to an extent), what really bugs me is the fact it doesn’t really work with polarized sunglasses… kind of a deal breaker, that’s all I wear. 🤷🏻‍♂️
I almost always wear sun glasses during the day (luckily in my city, Rome, Italy, we get a lot of sunny days, also in winter) some of them are polarised. I think that this HUD is behaving better than others (i.e. Range Rover). I still can see it, even if less bright. I think that it depends on the degree of polarisation of the glasses.

my polarized ray bans have less “loss” with this HUD - there is some diminished visibility but not enough to matter - in my cayenne HUD it’s more extreme

for me this HUD works pretty well with my polarized sun glasses

Some vehicles have the ability for the driver to adjust the HUD’s horizontal angle. Both, our 2023 Corvette and our 2024 BMW iX have that adjustment capability (very simply/quickly done).

On the Macan’s augmented HUD, is this angle…

a) driver adjustable; or, b) Porsche dealership adjustable?

my 2024 Macan Turbo EV has the ability to adjust the HUD in the following ways:
  • vertical up/down
  • some degree of rotation (clockwise & counter-clockwise)
  • brightness
  • display content with pre-configured choices
  • settings are saved per-driver - not clear if they are saved with memory-seat settings
to date I have not found an adjust for left-right centering…

all of the settings above can be adjusted by the driver…I'm not sure what dealer adjustments are available.

Thank you Dave for your precise response. I doubt a HUD windshield image could be moved side to side — nor do I know of a HUD in any vehicle that could be.

But that it could be rotated to fix this image (copied from above posted and pasted here) is very good news — and we are all pleased that the owner could do so.

Could you please guide me where this setting is as I have been looking for it?
the HUD is one of the "scopes" - if you use the right hand most button to swtich between scopes on the main dash - the HUD is one of the scopes - when the HUD is underlined - you can press the right-hand wheel buttons to change the HUD settings - once you've drilled into the HUD menu "in the HUD" the settings will be displayed and you can make the adjustments…

here is a rough video I made showing the "settings" menu in the HUD

I commented on this a while back. Mine was off in the same way. It can be adjusted as horizontal and vertical. But you do need to go pretty deep in the horizon angle adjustment to have it be level with dash.

How did you "learn" about the big collision alert? Personal experience? ;)
Driving on 101 in the Bay Area, the big yellow triangle was there all the time with the default sensitivity settings. (and I'm not even American so I don't tailgate as badly as everybody else does here!)

I had to dial down the warnings a bit.
