it's nice to see Porsche finally making progress in catching up techwise to other modern vehicles…

so far 2+ weeks in I'm liking the progress I've noted in the following areas:
  • the AR HUD is a major step in competitive tech and is no longer state of the art 2009 - good job Porsche this is a worthy piece of tech!!
  • seamless entry/exit - get in and drive, and get out and walk away and have the car "just work" with out doing anything is much better vs. my other Porsche's - I missed this from my Tesla's and it's nice to see Porsche close the gap here
    • now if they would only support "phone as a key" I'd be closer to exuberance - but this is pretty good…
  • so far the PCM and carplay are much more stable have has fewer "hangs" and "non-functionals" - congrats!
  • ambient lighting being optionally status/diagnostic is a nice feature and I personally am enjoying it!
  • check out the rear-seat fold down! did you know you can rotate the "latch" so that there is a more "upright" postion for the seat backs, making the cargo area have more space??? Check it out!!
  • I like the gesture for power door port opening more than my Taycan's implementation
  • passenger display having conditional polarization is a neat trick
  • wireless charging bay having air-conditioning - nice
  • I like the deeper center console
  • thanks for improving innodrive - nice to see progress in this space!
  • so far the app experience is better and more responsive for remote status/updates - big progress here from Porsche!!
  • listing of charging sites in PCM navigation - with available stalls - nice status even if it's inaccurate - so Porsche is making this a better EV
  • plug&charge - I missed out on this in my 2020 Taycan ($5k retrofit, or MY'2021 or later had it) - plug&charge is soooo nice.
none of the items above are make/break - but they are all nice touches that add up to more satisfaction and less disgruntled ness - and I have to make fewer excused that Porsche drive's better which makes up for where they suck…

Just checked it out...wow This is one of those things I honestly would have never found out about. It is a very clever feature that I can see using.

we carry our dog Zola in the back of our Macan - and rarely have passengers in the rear seats…so having the seats "more upright" for better space in the cargo area is a huge win in my book…and easily "fixed" should I need someone to sit back there.

I know it sounds silly - but I'm a car person - and when I get a new car I'll spend hours in the drive way just "exploring" it and actually flipping trough the owner's manual - checking out the frunk/trunk cargo areas, what's under the seats - etc…a lot of modern cars have a ton of features that go unnoticed by 99% of their owners for 99.9% of their ownership period…I like to know my car inside/out and take advantage of all the thoughtful features that the manufacturer bothered to include…and I've learned over the years that means spending time with the car while not driving it…

Zola approves of the new Macan and eagerly leaps into whenever the rear trunk is open…

To this point " now if they would only support "phone as a key" I'd be closer to exuberance"

Macan EV internal docs state that Porsche Digital Key will be available CW (calendar week) 25/25 at the earliest.

this will be interesting to see play out - what docs are you referring to - can you provide links?

There is one thing that I do wish it had was to let me know there is a phone in the wireless charging bay. I keep forgetting my phone. My BMW makes a noise and announced it on the instrument screen. Maybe it is one setting that I still need to find and switch on :)

The new Audi Q6 that shares all the same tech as the Macan EV has the digital key feature that allows you to unlock and drive the car via a smartphone or smartwatch. It also allows you to create digital keys for up to 5 users. I think there has been some delay especially using Apple devices needing a firmware update to be able to add the digital key to Apple wallet.

I think this could be a complimentary new feature for the Macan that will come via an (OTA) MMI update next year.

When a phone is in the charging area there is a notification on the PCM but no sound or "better" alert.

Having upgraded from a 3.5 year old Audi e-Tron Sportback 55 Launch Edition, it still surprises me that functions such as Innodrive aren't already perfected, as the Audi was great to drive with the same intelligent cruise control functionality. With Porsche and Audi having the same overall owners it still amazes me that manufacturers aren't cherry picking the best functions from their portfolio and adding them to their prestige models. I've had my Macan Turbo EV for 10 days now and during that time Innodrive spent the first week telling me there was a fault with the traffic sign recognition leading to cruise control not being available, and the days since the fix was deployed on Friday still not recognising cameras with much accuracy and the Innodrive speed adaption to traffic sign not working at all. I'm also struggling to get the auto parking function to actually find a parking spot when I can see one and end up just manually reversing in.

That said - like you I am also loving the seamless entry and exit that renders the start button redundant; the swipe to open the frunk; the options to open the power charging ports from inside the car; speed of over air updates for navigation and PCM, and the information bar/ambient lighting.

For me, I the best bit is definitely the power and responsiveness that my much less efficient e-tron lacked. Zoooooooom! :)

Definitely not a silly thing to do! I did exactly the same with my Turbo and its instruction manual 10 days ago, and have since started pointing out functions on my husband's Taycan that he didn't realised he has had for the past 18 months- because he doesn't do the same lol

Sounds like I’ve had a similar experience, swapped my Audi Q8 55 Etron for a Macan 4 as wanted something smaller; also have an Skoda Enyaq EV. Neither of these vehicles has ever had any faults or failures and all functions worked. The Macan now, since the OTA remapping, does not have speed sign faults but does not see any other traffic signs. The ‘Warn and Brake assist error‘ warning light stays on for a few miles when starting out and the ‘proactive occupant protection’ spends most of its time ‘greyed out’ in the menu. The park assist is incredibly temperamental ………. Finally, on last overnight charging got up to find a high voltage system fault and the car making a horrible electrical buzzing noise (Porsche Assist UK called, very good), still waiting for a call from the dealer to get car in for analysis. Been buying two new cars or dealer ex-demonstrators every couple of years for 25 years and this car is the worst for faults. Feels like I’m beta testing for Porsche.

Blimey - I’ve had nothing to that level. Just the Innodrive related issues. To be fair - ai’ve had worse on a new car. My Evoque a few years ago nearly got sent back after 2 months as it had spent most of that time either on the back of a recovery truck or in the dealership garage. However - for the price you pay for a Porsche, and given that they could and should be based on the successful Audi platform, it’s very frustrating to have what you accurately describe as a beta version!
