So it's not clear to me if the $7500 credit is a thing on not. Can anyone verify?

If you lease the car, you’ll get the $7.5k credit.
And get hammered with a lease cost that will more than offset this credit.

these are wild... So the macans, even though they are cheaper, the least costs are higher because the terms are longer?

I just had an informative conversation with the US finance people at my dealer. Here’s the scoop.

- there is no prepayment penalty on a 24 month lease

- however, if you pay it off before 6 months, Porsche will not have received the $7,500 EV credit from the government, so you’d have to pay this back. If you payoff after Porsche has the $7,500, then this amount is credited to you. I’m quoting the finance person verbatim.

- the numbers are very blunt: if I take the car with a 24 month lease and then pay it off after 6 months, I will have $4,500 more in my bank account as compared to buying outright. The finance person showed me everything including the payoff amount after 6 months so it was pretty easy to do the math. The reason for $3,000 difference are lease fees and 6 months of interest.

I’m all for an extra $4,500.

hmmm this is interesting cuz this is not how it was explained to me. If you turn in the lease in early, purchase or not, you have to pay the remaining payments due (minus the rental fees)...and that's what will you put you in the hole iirc

I have an email with the 6 month payoff amount and it’s consistent with what they said. I’ll let you know what happens in real life as it seems too fair and simple to be true.

Macan 4 EV with $99K MSRP.

Can someone share thoughts on this deal? I've tried to reverse calculate it using a MF of .0035 and I consistently get $1100 or 1200 per month using all the same numbers.

Two things aren't clear:
What its the sales tax where you live
Why is your total cap reduction only $14,760 if you have $7,500 rebate, $4,500 down and another $4,559.10 from your trade in?

Unless something is moved around I'd expect it to be $16,549.10


Assuming the residual is 64%, that leaves the usage of the car around $32k without tax or fees.
that alone on a base lease would be ~ $,1333 for 24 months.

So, essentially your $9,049.10 + the $7500 rebate is going towards the rent charge, dealer fees and tax of the lease.

but either way, it's close to the numbers I'd expect in my area, off by about $10-20 bucks or so.

ah, yea, It looks like the residual is much better on a 4 than the turbo.
I landed at around 1271. Depending on your state, the taxes are calculated differently.

But if you have leasehackr, that should be all the info you need, no ?

If 50% residual at 2 years 30k miles you'll have spent $64,000 or $2,666 a month PLUS tied up cash. At a typical 5% that's another $458 a month or $11,000.

At 65% you'd be at $48,100 or $2,004 plus the cash 5%. So still very bad.

I honestly don't know. I think you're getting killed either way.

If you can talk the dealership down on a lease I'd highly consider it. The lease sucks. It's a really bad deal. But it does protect you and if these cars plummet in value you could get really killed in 2/3 years.

I don't see a world where these cars are worth over 65% in 2 years given the current market and the very bleak outlook for EVs. Could argue tariffs will drive up used car prices but I doubt that'd apply to the Macan EV.

I'd probably lease and at the 6 mo mark see if buying it out early makes sense.
