Trying to register my macan EV4 for octopus intelligent go tariff. Manage to add the vehicle to the octopus portal, but when it comes to the test charge it times out and fails. Tried all the recommended fixes (rest the PCM, removed and added the vehicle to octopus portal several times over, run the battery down low etc) and still can’t get it to work.
has anyone experienced and overcome this please?

I had similar issues. Now bypass the Octupus app and just charge the car manually using the Macan's internal timer for the cheap tariff times. I am sure Octopus Customer Service can resolve the issue if you phone them.

Hi , not sure it’s your power supplier but the maker of the wall charger you have. I’ve a thread open as I cannot schedule charging from a PodPoint charger that has for last few years happily charged an Audi and a Skoda. Only listed yesterday but so far someone withe a Zappi charger and another PodPoint having same problems.

Please log problems with both Porsche dealer and the charger supplier.

I have queried this with both OVO, the charger supplier and Porsche.
The results are as follows. OVO don’t have the Macan listed [yet]. The Andersen charger folks say the unit cannot be updated and new bits are expensive! Alternative is to buy a 2024 unit at £1000. Porsche seem to be blissfully unaware 🤨
I have run 2 Taycan over 5 years with no issues whatsoever.
I’m hoping that OVO extract their digit and add the Macan EVs to their dropdown selection.
Big difference in unit cost ÂŁ0.23/kW vs ÂŁ0.07/kW

I have a 2024 Andersen A2 unit and am with Octopus. They will not recognise my Macan EV Turbo (they say they may in due course) so I just plug it in and charge the car when I need it - nobody seems to want to help..! Very unsatisfactory..

Hey so I had a load of problems too... I think it is just that the instructions are not very clear. This is what I did to resolve but everytime it failed, I had to remove the 'device' completely and add it again from scratch. Not a huge deal but one that meant the Octopus App had to be given access to 'My Porsche' everytime.

  1. Add the device (your car and charger) to the app
  2. Follow all the steps including loging into myporsche
  3. Just before you start the test charge, make sure the charger is plugged in and your charger's app is set to ensure the charger is 'Always On' so it would just start charging as soon as you plug it in. Make sure the car also doesnt have any departure schedule or charging schedule set so it starts charging as soon as you plug it in.
  4. With the car just starting or started the charge, initiate the test charge
  5. Within 7 minutes, the car should suspend the charge automatically and the octopus app will have created a charging schedule automatically also. Leave the car plugged in and at the appropriate time between 11:30pm and 5:30am, the car will start charging to get you to the 80% (if thats whats defined in the Octopus App) needed.
The above worked for me but I have to say even following the successful charge, it isnt fail safe that it continues to work. However this is a fault of the car not being receptive to remote commands like departure pre-conditioning etc. It just loses connection for no reason.

Good luck and if all else fails, either call Octopus support (they are normally pretty good), or just set your charger to start and only charge between the 11:30pm and 5:30am for the 7p per KWh rate.
