Whatever the explanation, in real life Porsche is unable to OTA update any Macan EV at the moment....
It's a fact.

Having so many brand new cars with unknown problems that require specific investigations is well … a total failure (Q6 is no different)

That is not true. The Macan EV supports OTAs. The Taycan was updated in Aug of 2023 to support OTAs and the Macan EV has from day one.

But if you have a car with an unknown issue, you need to understand what the issue is, (hardware or software?) If software, figure what the software problem is, make the software fix, then update the car. I am guessing a tech could probably do an update to the current latest and see if that fixes it before further diagnosing the problem.
some subset of the Macan supports OTA's but the vehicle is not fully OTA capable - there are/will-be updates that require a dealer visit and hardwired software side load…

you are simply wrong on this assertion - and the Taycan is still not an OTA vehicle - while some subset is OTA it's not enough to avoid dealer visits for software updates.

Just read this part of one of the latest recall for MacanEV and you understand that Macan is not IRL OTA capable, and worse, dealership can only have one Porsche usb memory to do the updates… So if they have 2 Macan, they can’t do the job on both at the same time…
Amazing, disturbing… stupid?

I'm doubtful they can only do one at a time. I read that as they are provided with only 1. If more are needed, the part number is listed there.

When I took delivery of my turbo I was told they do support ota. I am not sure what made me think they didn’t. Maybe earlier tycans!!!!

Finally, my Turbo is ready for pick-up, after 5 weeks of endless attempts to update its software, and many changed electronic parts.
Do you think I should take it or cancel it?
Finally, after such a long wait...Congratulations.
Are seriously asking this question when its ready? 🤔

Great Definitely take it. Mine had pre delivery software issues and now is doing great. The car will make you forget the horrible long wait

Noooo I’m jocking 😉, congrats for the big big patience you had. As somebody as already wrote, it’s time to enjoy your new baby (and all its issues that many found, maybe you’ll be luckier since your car has been so well checked in 5 weeks).

Really sorry for all you who are waiting. One query. Mine not due for delivery until early 2925 so not affected at present. One query are you not being provided with loan cars during delay? I had a delay in UK with my Polestar ( a long story they managed to sell my car to someone else the day before delivery!) but provided me with a brand new equivalent demonstrator full insured for three months at no cost. My wife also had a delay on her Audi and again they provided an Audi loan until hers was ready. In each case we had sold our old cars in advance of agreed date. We had to also buy both provided them without argument. Suited me as I racked up 5k miles and tried everything out on their car.

Oops 2025 not 2095 I’m not that patient!

In my case, the delivery was due by 10/20, but the car has been sitting at the dealership since 9/19.
So, contractually, it’s a matter of days… and no reason from their POV to provide me with a loaner (frankly
I get that)
But IRL, I’ve waited 5 weeks in order to have a confirmed delivery date, thanks to multiple software issues…

Am I correct in understanding that many who had issues due to the update have started receiving their cars?

Because mine has been sitting with the dealer since September 23, and there’s still no news. I think the problem may no longer be with the software; it could be a manufacturing defect. I don’t understand why other cars with similar issues have already been resolved.

You should write a very angry mail against Porsche… because the problem is Porsche, not your DA.
Send it to your SA.

It took 5 weeks to « salvage » my car: 3 modules, several updates and all have to be done in a specific order.
If one piece is on shortage, it takes longer to be solved. Very annoying.
Of course no ETA, no shared knowledge base across dealerships and so on…
An unbelievable mess.
