Nice video that remind me the "Analitic" page in the pad of my previous Tesla. I'm sorry to tell this once again but even if my Macan is 400% better (or maybe more) than my Tesla, the information about the car status were amazing and let me think about what I was doing (good or bad). One of them was exactly how I was using the heat pump and how this impacted the range.
So please Porsche, you built an amazing car (I love it everyday and every km I do with it) but improve the info data about the car status and the APP because these data are already managed by the car and it "only" (I'm an engineer but I don't want to be disrespectful for people who are into the informatic world ;) ) takes a way to show them.

Agree with you Diego
Great car, but software is a bit of a meh! The whole VW Group suffers like that in that area. They say a behemoth moves slowly. ;)
It's very easy to improve software functionality, and the app, but their concentration is more on vehicle engineering and dynamics (which is nice).

The precondition feature is missing in Macan? You can set the departure time and select cabin preheating but no battery preheating? I don't see such option and didn't notice anything like that when you use departure time, it only charges the battery.

Is this true? The departure time doesn’t actually pre condition the battery?

Why do you need to pre-condition the battery for Departure time? Battery temperature is managed automatically and kept within an optimal range. Yes, warmer battery is more efficient, and it does warm up a little if the Timer is set and Pre-Condition of the Cabin is enabled. Then it is warmed up if needed when you are driving.

The battery is pre-conditioned (usually preheated to a much higher temperature than needed for normal driving) only if a Charging Station is set as Destination in the Navigation to achieve maximum charge rate.

This is a good video explaining the difference between driving battery temp vs. pre-conditioned for charging battery.

I would very much like to know this for sure. So far I haven't noticed any effect on battery temp with ~0C outside. The car is warm inside but the battery temp is close to the ambient temp. I don't think it warms the battery but perhaps you have to wait for the outside temp to drop way below freezing?

Why? Easy, I would prefer the car to heat the battery when needed using power from the grid instead of the battery (as long as it sits connected anyways and knows it would be leaving soon), wouldn't you? Same thing with cooling.

Pre-heat battery from grid before departure to optimal driving temperature sounds logical, but Porsche has not made that feature available, possibly because it can only manage battery temperature when knowing ambient temperatures outside when on the move. Let's say you are in a cool garage and set it to pre-heat but then outside ambient is too hot, then the car has to cool the battery down.

How does the Taycan then pre-condition? The Macan could get local weather info (outside of one’s garage) in addition to should be able to measure actual inside garage vehicle temp.

I think this issue will be fully resolved with a software upgrade but of course knowing Porsche might not be until after this winter is over (Northern hemisphere).
