Why do you need to pre-condition the battery for Departure time? Battery temperature is managed automatically and kept within an optimal range. Yes, warmer battery is more efficient, and it does warm up a little if the Timer is set and Pre-Condition of the Cabin is enabled. Then it is warmed up if needed when you are driving. Is this true? The departure time doesn’t actually pre condition the battery?
I would very much like to know this for sure. So far I haven't noticed any effect on battery temp with ~0C outside. The car is warm inside but the battery temp is close to the ambient temp. I don't think it warms the battery but perhaps you have to wait for the outside temp to drop way below freezing? Is this true? The departure time doesn’t actually pre condition the battery?
Why? Easy, I would prefer the car to heat the battery when needed using power from the grid instead of the battery (as long as it sits connected anyways and knows it would be leaving soon), wouldn't you? Same thing with cooling. Why do you need to pre-condition the battery for Departure time? Battery temperature is managed automatically and kept within an optimal range. Pre-heat battery from grid before departure to optimal driving temperature sounds logical, but Porsche has not made that feature available, possibly because it can only manage battery temperature when knowing ambient temperatures outside when on the move. Let's say you are in a cool garage and set it to pre-heat but then outside ambient is too hot, then the car has to cool the battery down.I would very much like to know this for sure.
