After I charged the car a few days ago at an Electrify America, I noticed that I could see the passenger display while driving. This has persisted for a few days.

I'm not complaining. I just thought it was interesting that the safety mode (passenger display is not visible to driver while driving) appears to be disabled in the car for some reason.

I know in my Taycan it would do this if literally anything was in the passenger seat. Sometimes I'd put my phone/wallet/jacket there and that alone was enough for the car to think it was a passenger.

I assure you, nothing was in the passenger seat when this started. But even if someone is in the passenger seat, as the driver, I am still able to view passenger screen while I'm driving today.

What can you see on the screen though? You would be able to see the normal stuff, but stuff like games and YouTube you shouldnt once the vehicle is moving.

At least I think thats what normally happens?

Try starting a you tube video on the passenger side, then see if it continues to let you see it once you start driving. Normally it will go dark and you would only hear the sound.

Thanks. I do understand how it is supposed to work, and I reported the issue here because it is not behaving normally. It was a behavior change from the week before. And, yes, Youtube videos are currently visible to the driver while the car is in motion.

I have the passenger screen set to display music playing. I can see the song playing while the vehicle is in motion. If the passenger touches the screen to go into the menu, i can no longer see it displayed. I think this is the factory setup, and how yours should work unless there’s a software bug.

This is how it worked until I charged it at an EA 350kW DC charger a few days ago, and then the passenger display became visible even when it should not have been. Again, it now plays YouTube videos and the driver can see them.

I would turn on YouTube and Innodrive and cruise :). Very odd that charging initiated this error. Software bugs are piling up.

Correlation != Causation
Besides a software bug, it is also possible that the filter failed. To me that seems far more likely than a charging event somehow persistently affecting the activation of the filter.
It's true, correlation is not equal to causation. I reported the event like this because it was a noticeable outcome at the time. It was the exact time of the failure because we were using the passenger display immediately before the charging and then immediately after the charging.

The passenger display decided to become invisible to the driver again today on my car. The only change that happen today was the login of a guest driver. No idea if this was related but I figured I would report it in case someone else sees it later.

I think it only becomes invisible to the driver if the passenger display is touched. That's how it works in my car.

Fascinating.

When my car was going through its Passenger Display Always Visible to Driver period, the passenger could be clicking through screens, watching YouTube videos, etc. and the driver could still see it. Now, the driver can't see the passenger screen again while the car is moving ... just like when we first brought the car home.
