This is a big reason I'm switching away from my iX. I just like the feel of the compact SUV (I absolutely loved my Jaguar i-Pace, but sold it when Jag announced they were going to switch focus). That Macan handles better, and the 4s accelerates better than the iX 55. I'm hopeful it won't have the same problem my iX does WRT CarPlay, where the car forgets the phone literally every other drive and you have to delete it on the phone to get it to re-pair.
I really liked my BMW V8 X6 and my BMW convertible. Both were a pleasure to drive, potent and luxurious. I considered getting a new BMW X6 m60i to replace my older X6. However, I really donā€™t like the new trend of ā€œmounted on the dashboard iPad-looking screensā€ and the less curvy and more angular and aggressive style trend of current Bimmers. Also, I really miss the circular orange (typical of BMW) dashboard dials and donā€™t care for the bracket and video game-looking display. I realize itā€™s a personal taste and that the infotainment software system may be even better than Porscheā€™s but is not my thing.
I really like the Porscheā€™s interior, the integrated on the dashboard displays, the quality of the work and luxurious finishing. I like the exterior style, curvy and Porscheā€™s looking. I enjoy driving and if this car drives as good or better than my older Bimmers, I will be very happy!!!

Unfortunately, this is the behavior of CarPlay. .
Not necessarily. Over the past 4 years, carplay in my Mini SE (BMW) has been flawless. Well, my wife uses bluetooth streaming, I use wireless carplay and if her phone is anywhere near the car it will default to her phone. I'd have to go to the mini radio menu and manually switch phones.

The iX 55 is a lot larger than the Macan, way too big for me, even if I could get used to the styling. But if you need or want a bigger SUV, the iX may work better for you.

I dont need the bigger size of the ix necessarily but what matters very much is reach and driving comfort.

The iX is significantly better in both. The range isn't great on the eMacan. The comfort is good on the Macan but excellent on the iX.
Agreed. The iX can put you to sleep on a long drive. Comfy, but dangerous. :)

Well if your car play wireless connectivity is normal then I am the unlucky one. See picture below (from this morning this time on the Volvo). This happens a lot. Resetting Bluetooth on my phone is the easiest way to get the car to connect (and not give me error messages about my USB cable which I never use).

In the UK the iX is either a 40 or 50. In terms of performance the iX50 is a little slower to the Macan 4S - 0 to 62 mph.

An approx 1 year old car with few options is for sale for Ā£ 69k - the list for the same spec new is Ā£ 106k. WLTP efficiency is given as 2.9 to 3.3 miles / KW. The 4s WLTP combined is 17.6 kw / 62 miles = 3.5 miles per kw.

BMW fans please do not shoot the messenger. I think I have the math right.

I may consider trading in my Volvo XC 40 in for the BMW neue klasse X in 2026 when is available but keeping my Macan 4 as I really love this car.

WTLP is utter nonsense.

The iX gets slightly better efficiency and has 10 kWh more available (in the larger pack configuration).

It has more range than an eMacan 4S or Turbo. There are plenty of real life data points available to prove this conclusively.

I'm certain it has more range than a 4 as well, but the 4 might be a bit closer for efficiency.

I'm sticking with my Macan EV, until one of them comes up with the next level, a solid state battery :)
Might still be 3ā€“4 years away, but would it be BMW or Porsche, first?
QuantumScape, developing solid-state batteries, has partnered with PowerCo SE, a Volkswagen Group company.

Mercedes might beat both
