Range - again

3 months owner of new Macan Turbo, warm weather arrived and still max range i have seen (on the display) is 255 and even that was with aircon off.

I’ve spend last two days doing a 30 mile round trip hardly pressing the accelerator to be super efficient and this is still the best I get. What am I missing folks. Is this just “real world” reality? Love, love, love the car, just was expecting range starting with a 3 in the summer.

Sorry to hear that. I got the equivalent of 310 miles with my turbo and 22’s, but elevation was flat, it was a 77-82 degree F day, and traffic made me be a good boy.

you got regen on? I personally feel range/consumption is better with the regen off.

Something is odd.

Getting 3.7-3.8mi/kWh on my Turbo with 21" and 80 degrees, regen off and no cruise control, foot light as a feather on the accelerator.

Wow, my average is 2.5 and yes i have regen on, so can always try disabling that. I genuinely drive very sedately 99% of the times

Mostly city or mostly freeway?
2.5 mi/kwh would be normal-ish for majority 75-80 mph freeway use. I see your average speed is 40 so I am guessing you are often at freeway speeds, city driving tends to be more in the 20mph average when you factor traffic in.

Similar situation. 4S with 22" RS Spyder. Love the car, but and my total is 2.5mi/kwh, and my estimated range is generally under 250m.

it has been slightly better recently, and a trip yesterday was 2.8mi/kwh, but that's still only mid 200s range. I was expecting high 200s or better.

AJKOK, looks like you have 22" RS Spyder too. They are the lowest range wheels according to the configurator, but are only slightly worse than the 21" options.

Well l, I am at least consistently rubbish, most trips are in dual carriage way around city so not super fast but not small city centre roads. I have been running with a/c off and super gradual acceleration and still similar results.

Tomorrow is a 180 mile round trip to London so will see if anything changes on calcs. Still a fab car but range just doesn’t stand up even close to claims (for me).

that is not much. but math says that your average range as shown is 2,65 mi/kw

On a recent 115 mile trip through the Highlands with very busy roads and an average speed of 39mph and a fair few ups and downs I thought the car would return well over 300 miles, perhaps even up to 340 mls at one stage. I have the 4. Very happy with that. Not done a full range test though.

For reference, 4S with 20 inch tires, trips of more than an hour: Using default settings (regen and AC on)

Cruising winding country roads with average speed of 30 mph and temperatures in the 60s F, the app consistently reports 3.9 mi/kWh. With temperature in the 40s, 3.3 mi/kWh

After highway drives averaging 60 mph (peaks of 80), the app sometimes reports 2.7, sometimes 2.4. I haven't seen anything less than 2.3 since its had 100 miles on it..

Overall average was 2.9 in April. (many more highway miles than Sunday drives).


Check your tire pressure.

Range guesses consider more variables, I would compare distance per kWh.

Today with a fresh 85% charge (road trip tomorrow) it is guessing 300 mile range.

I do a lot of travel with my Turbo model between Palm Springs and Los Angeles, driving at speeds between 75 and 80 miles an hour and with temperatures between 75 to 105 degrees Fahrenheit. On the whole I'm averaging 260 to 300 miles of range, depending on traffic conditions. I keep Re-Gen off and only use when in heavy traffic or on city streets.
