Tesla recorded a decline in sales in five European countries in January. There were losses in the UK, France, Sweden, Norway and the Netherlands. Competitors had recently overtaken the US electric car manufacturer with newer vehicle models.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk also caused controversy with his vocal support for far-right parties in the UK and Germany on his X social media platform.

Tesla sales in the UK fell by almost twelve percent, despite monthly electric car registrations in Europe's largest market for battery electric vehicles rising to a record high, according to data from research organization New AutoMotive.

In France, Tesla sales slumped by 63 percent in the month under review, in Sweden and Norway by 44 percent and 38 percent respectively and in the Netherlands by 42 percent. In California, the largest US car market with more than 1.7 million vehicle registrations in 2024, Tesla sales also fell by twelve percent in January.

California is a very liberal state and this may be backlash to Musk's politics. Or perhaps its just that folks have found the Tesla to not be a very good car and now have more choices.

although the sales have dropped, they didn't have a lot of sales anyway. iirc it was like 1000 cars in sweden or something...very small.
but the market is still growing.
i think its bit of push back on musk and his nazi bs, along with competition. Damn near every MFR makes an EV now...so ppl have choices

Lets wait till Juniper is really on sale, guess 80% of their sales was Model Y, so this slowdown was to be expected, the question is will Jumiper sales pick up, so wait till May - June to see if this trend is holding

Elon Musk to Tesla Cybertruck buyers: No take-backs. It’s a lemon

„With Tesla having issues selling new Cybertrucks, the automaker is reportedly not taking any as trade-ins. Many Cybertruck owners reported trying to trade-in the truck for a new vehicle and they were told that the automaker currently doesn’t accept its own vehicle as a trade-in.

Some owners who have had their trucks in service for extended periods of time are also trying to get Tesla to take the truck back, but the company is forcing them to go through the Lemon Law process.

It’s not surprising to see Tesla not wanting to take back used Cybertrucks as their prices are falling fast.“

A totally different scale but Lexus are declining px’ing RZ 450e’s (full EV) against any other Lexus’s other than a new RZ. Can’t think of a better example of emission that a model is crap.

The people more likely to switch to EVs are the very people who are most likely to avoid buying Teslas due to Musk's politics. Not very smart, really.

I was in the market for a Tesla Model 3, as it's very difficult to look elsewhere when it comes to replacing my wife's MB C-Class, but I now refuse to buy one due to the behaviour of Elon Musk. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Pretty sure Model Y was best selling car there in 2024 until Musk started going off the rails. People are now looking elsewhere and seeing that the gap isn’t what it used to be.

Yes, i took tesla off the list when all those law suits and reports of racism at his plants came out years ago. Now anyone with a brain knows that the CEO isn't responsible for the actions of all their employees but then it was clear he was supporting/following/retweeting racist and racist content on twitter....
